Its in two short parts so second part in next post. And if you feel so inclined donate some money to Comic Relief, easy enough to find out how with a quick google search.

School non uniform for RND today and other events too, follow up to schools £1200 for children in need. (this time including a Squach sponsored silence - getting up was lovely and quiet this morning) - watching the shows, and crying in every Vid!

Heart breaking stuff isn't it? Whilst in no way knocking all the fund raising and good work done by all, it is shocking what can be done with 20-30million pounds and the fact this week the bosses of Barclays bank (which lost 1.6 million pounds last year) awarded themselves £375 million in pay and bonuses.
How do they sit and watch stuff like Comic Relief and still sleep at night?

The new series begins this easter! cheers In the UK and the US (Sat 23rd).
Heres a rather brilliant vid, its styled as a prequel to the first two part story, the Impossible Astronaut, set in the US. Its not from the episodes but is a short made to set it up and entice and its rather good. I love Moffat!! Wish he'd written LotR script.

I full series trailer is due tomorrow. (26th) Will post a link once I find it.
Really looking forward to this one now everyones got a series under their belt and general all round approval for it, they should be hitting their stride.

More tradegy in the Doctor Who world- Sarah Sladen the actress who played the Doctors longest serving companion, Sarah Jane Smith, has died of cancer. As well as Doctor Who she starred for the last 4 years in her own spin off series the Sarah jane Adventures.
One of my favourite companions in Doctor Who a sad loss. Sad

Oh, it was awesome! Smile Such a solid opener- and as for the Silencer- best monster since the Weeping Angels for me! I love arc storyline anyway, and I love Dr Who, so naturally I'd like today's show, but maybe casual viewers would be left a little confused! In isolation this episode makes little sense, but I loved the way it linked at least the last 3 episodes! The River and Rory scene deserves a mention too!

But solid opener, I very much look forward too next weeks!

Well I thought Moffat had something big up his sleeve, still no idea what it is, but then thats good thing about this run, it keeps me guessing then pulls the rug out from under me with the answers. Seems the Beeb have decided to pump a lot of money into this one- lots of intriguing things in this opening-

WOO! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! WOOOO! SPOILER ALERT! WOO! (i always feel spoiler alerts should come with an alarm)- Amy's pregnancy, the other tardis under the gorund that looks exactly like the one from the lodger episode last series, and of course the Silencers and the not least of all the Doctor being shot and killed, don't know if you saw confidential afterwards but Moffat was emphatic, it was the Doctor and he is dead. So Illuvatar knows what he's got planned ole Moffat, but bless him for bringing Doctor Who back to where it should be (and dare I say even better than ever before?) and for ending the delusional state of the series under RTD.

Oh, really enjoyed that, and will no doubt have to wacth it again when Squach gets home on Monday too. A good thing to look forward to! Have to agree the silencers are great (weeping angels first apperance is still one of my favourtie episodes!). I like that some things are being openly set up at the start. RTD used to annoy me when he hid things till the final two parter and then brought them out as if to say ' aren't I clever'.

But haven't they boxed themselves into a hole with regenerations? There can't be another Doctor if he is killed in this body?

Mind it is time that someone of this group died for real! I got a bit fed up of the fake deaths last series. I am also glad River is going to get more air time this year, like the interplay.

As to regenerations- I'm stumped as to a way out of this- but I trust the Moffat!

Saw this in a Steven Moffat interview and it amused me

Moving on to Sherlock, you’re stealing Martin Freeman back from The Hobbit to play Watson again on the show?
No! No! No, no, no, no. We are lending Martin Freeman to The Hobbit, let’s get that the right way round.

Do you have a good relationship with Peter Jackson? I know you worked on the script of the Jackson-produced Adventures of Tintin.

I know him. I don’t know him that well. We’ve worked together. I’ve met him a few times. That’s what it amounts to. But that wasn’t the negotiation. Martin was very committed to being in Sherlock and wouldn’t have been in The Hobbit unless Sherlock could be accommodated. It’s not exactly a small deal these days, Sherlock.

Very Happy Well he has a point- Sherlock came first!

I've been reading some reviews of last nights episode on various newspaper sites and it seems to have gone down rather well critically. Main concerns seem to be it was too complicated for new time Who fans- such as those they are trying to woo in the US (although that seems a bit insulting to me, can't imagine Eldo or Tin for example having any trouble following it), but a more serious point raised is, is it suitable still for a family audicience?
The Doctors death right at the start and the emotional turmoil (brillaintly played I thought by Karen Gillan who has really got a handle on Amy's character now I think ) was very powerful. And the murder of the White House aide in the restroom was failry full on. And I was a bit surprised they got away with Rivers line 'Oh I'm quite the screamer. Now there's a spoiler for you.' Especially at a 6pm time slot.
Now I've been a Whovian since Pertwee, and have since gone back and watched the surving early stuff. And although the sexual stuff is more blatant, it not new, Who has shocked before, there's an episode from the 2nd Doctor's run (Troughton) with vikings. And although its never directly referred to, or shown on screen, the aftermath of a viking raid clearly implies the gang rape of one of the main female characters in the story. Its still quite a shocking scene today to see her traumatized by it.
As to violence. Who has always been violent really. Theres was a scene from Bakers run with a lot of blood in it that caused a stir back in the ealry 80's. Last nights was not quite so extreme (but the monster was a lot scarier looking).
But what do others think? And what did you think Sqauch? I think you are the youngest Who watching member on here- so when you get back from your holiday let us know what you thought- did you watch it from behind the sofa where children watching Who belong?
And any of our US cousins who saw it, how did America react to Who? (The MTV America review was very positive). Is there a US family show that can be quite so dark to comapre it too? I am curious as to how the US might view a show which sets out to deliberetly scare children.
