I cannot rest because I am off to a LOTR marathon at the movie theatre, starts in about two and a half hour and whoops, there goes the day

When I got the Blu-ray box set a year ago I decided that I would do the complete 12 hour Extended Edition marathon at home before The Hobbit comes out. I only have like six weeks left now!

My daughter & my friend used to do a LOTRs fest at home nearly every weekend,(saddo's that we are !) We'd make a huge flask & pot of tea & snacks & sit thru the EEs,even the extra discs,showing how they made the costumes etc. I havnt done that for AGES now, They are still visually good films to watch,just to many Cock-ups for me now, which is a shame,considering all the work that went into them, (everything but the original dialogue etc)

I think I've watched the EE appendices more than the films themselves. And the commentaries are often fun as well - sort of helped me come to terms with all the changes except Denethor, which they never even seemed to realize wasn't Denethor....

Whatever else I say about PJ or LOTR, the Extended Editions are still the gold standard for DVD bonus features. I have never seen anything that compares to them in scope, size, or thoroughness. I've watched the EE DVDs more than any other movies I own and I still haven't seen everything they have to offer.

You're simply not applying yourself. I think I've seen everything in the appendices twice, though I do tend to skip all the drawings. Have you found the famous Council of Elrond easter egg?

i've finally made up my mind, Petty. Although I see some faults, after seeing them in a marathon, I have no urge to see your edits. although, the long summary in the middle of TT is unesessery. like only people who didn't pay attention earlier need that. and.. hmm... I may say that I got a bit tired of flashback-and-forward with arwen all the time. but not really. no. no. I like her. still like TT the best. and the beginning of ROTK (the ending is soo long, but it should, not complaining.)

The bit of the EE I really want to see is the bit they all see Elves passing in the forest and when they meet Haldir and see Lothlorien from a distance, it wasnt in the theatrical version. and I dont think that music of the passing of the Elves is in the soundtrack cd either.
