I Cannot Rest Empty I Cannot Rest

Post by Orwell Tue Aug 16, 2011 2:46 am

This may be the last act (on this subject) of a desperate hobbit, but does anyone here at all have the first DVD release of FotR? NOT the Extended Version. If so, please look at the Rivendell scenes of Elrond. I still can't let it sleep, this vision of Elrong reciting the Ring Poem... Until someone who has the first DVD release tells me I'm just imagining this, I will continue to cling grimly to this hope {{{{{that I can still make Petty look stupid Twisted Evil }}}}}

No, no, not all - unless you can unencrypt things Mad - but I think it fair that we try all avenues. As you know, I'm not a trouble maker {{{{did I really just say that? Embarassed }}}}, I just want to cross all the T's. I have a clear memory of Elrond doing it. Now, it might just be my memory of an "imagined" scene that I now think happened (and, yes, the evidence so far does point in that direction), but I still need to Confirm the facts. Once someone checks the first (non-extended) DVD release, then I'll have no further reason to think I'm the only one on this Forum who is right. (Not that I'd gain any pleasure or satsfaction by calling you all stupid heads.)

NB "fictous"? I mean, really. Spelling mistakes are okay by me, but that almost sounds like a real word - and should be, I feel. What could it mean, though? (Thinking cap goes on).

Nuh - need to do better. Something like "something that has a fictional aspect or quality"? Doesn't sound groovy enough... but maybe that would be good enough...mmm... Suspect

Oh....

Orwell: "I remember Elrond reciting the Ring Poem."

Petty: "That does sound like it has a fictous quality."

Orwell: "No, I'm sure I didn't just imagine it."

Petty: "No, surely not, I didn't mean that. What I mean is, you remember imagining it but don't remember imagining it as a figment of your imagination."

Orwell: "That's as clear as mud."

Petty: "That phrase itself has a fictous aspect!"

A mental state - not a "kind" of person.

Err.... "bonkers" might be what I was looking for. "Wonky" though = shoddy, or unsteady where I come from. That could mean somone's brain going "wonky", and therefore "gone astray or unsteady in thinking" or even a person becoming "wonkers".

I am not even sure where any of my LOTR movies are, but is sounds odd that Elrond would say the poem. And with the help of Google, I find that in both versions it is Gandalf who recites the poem during the Council of Elrond, and Elrond is not too happy about it.

Sorry Orwell...

Gandalf also says it in common tongue in the Shire, after the text appeared on the Ring.

Could it be on that non-extended version? Or somewhere in an out-take.

Btw I don't feel quite so crazy now. Thanks Chris.

I just can remember (imagine?) Elrond saying it, and have a clear vision of it, and even remember (imagine?) that I did not like the way he recited it very much. Peculiar imaginings --- probably "accurate" memories! Very Happy
