Mr Figg watched DOS tonight for the first time, I let him get on with it downstairs as I couldnt bear it. His only comment was, 'its a video game' at the barrels scenes I think he secretly liked it.

Between the 'video game' and the 'flaming lady garden' I've developed a good deal of respect for Mr Figg's observational acuity.

Re: The Positive Thread
Mr Figg, having never read the books (being Italian), upon seeing DOS appended his own interpretation to the eye of Sauron. Despite being out of his element his discernment was sufficient to realize the Flaming Lady Garden had no place in the film.

Re: The Positive Thread
He also surprised me somewhat by saying, ''isnt that supposed to be Legolas?''.
I was surprised that he actually knew who Legolas was.
He also made an interesting comment that I hadnt thought of as regards sizing. If you notice that Thranduil is very tall, Tauriel looks much smaller, probably a 5ft 3'' woman and a 6ft 2'' man. Thorin looks like a 5ft 2'' Dwarf, pretty much the same size as Tauriel, BUT if you look at Feast for Starlight, Kili is way way smaller than Tauriel, probably a 4ft 7'' Dwarf or so, anyway no where near the height of Thorin. Just imagine how tiny Kili would look if Thranduil Tauriel and Kili stood side by side. if you get my drift.

Certainly. I'm not familiar with the "nice guys have small packages" however.

I do have a few positives, but I think It's only fair to wait for Petty to see the film, he has a much better memory for the finer details
