But I probably shouldn't be complaining about it in the "Not so crabbit now!" thread.  Laughing

I can't figure out if these guys are dumbfucks or admirably cheeky:

Prosecutors: Fraudsters filed fake tax return as Eric Holder

By Andrew Grossman | The Wall Street Journal

Two Georgia men filed a tax return with the name, birthday and social security number of Attorney General Eric Holder in hopes of getting his refund, according to federal prosecutors in Atlanta. Mr. Holder was one of several people targeted by Yafait Tadesse and Eyaso Abebe, both of whom have pleaded guilty to charges related to the scheme.

Fraudulent income tax returns are a growing problem that Mr. Holder’s Justice Department is working to combat. Typically, perpetrators steal the personal information of victims, fill out returns that would entitle them to a refund, then file them electronically.

“Identity theft affects people from all walks of life, from hardworking taxpayers trying to make ends meet, to senior government officials,” said Sally Quillian Yates, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.

A spokesman for Mr. Holder declined to comment on his case.

In the Atlanta case, Messrs. Tadesse and Abebe filled out returns saying that all of their victims worked at Wal-Mart and had similar incomes, according to prosecutors. Some of the refunds were paid out, but others were stopped.

The refund claimed by the two men in Mr. Holder’s name wasn’t paid out, a spokesman for the Atlanta U.S. Attorney’s office said.

Attorneys for the two men didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Why is it snowy in that scene?- I mean they leave Bree and there is no snow, there is a montage and the bit about Aragorn looking foul and there is no snow, and then apparently its only just breakfast time on day 1 ( scratch ) and there's snow everywhere, and not even fresh snow, but quite obviously days old snow thats had time to partly melt.
Ive always thought it was amongst some of the worst editing in the films.

Not when it hasnt snowed, and not when it appears as old snow for one location, a very short distance from where we last saw them with no snow, and is all mysteriously gone again by the very next scene.
And there is nowhere high up between Bree and the Midgewater marshes. Thats the whole point of the Weather Hills and Weathertops strategic location- its the only high ground.

And why is it only their first days breakfast after a long walking montage implying at least a full days travel?

Central Norway went through a period of drought from january to mid march. 2,5 months with next to no rain (temperatures wouldn't have allowed snow), yet in places hidden from the sun you could still stumble upon patches of snow. So it is possible Nod

And come to think of it Norway is way further north than Bree assuming the Shire is towards the south of Britain. And when they arrive in Bree its torrential rain, and they leave the very next morning.
Then they walk a bit in a montage, question following Aragorn, and then its only second breakfast, so they are only a few hours from Bree at the most, so it should have poured with rain the night before, washing away the snow, the snow there is no evidence for a few hours either side of the scene with snow in it.
I think rather than having some rational excuse the sequence is just badly edited, there should be no snow, and the breakfast scene should come after the scene discussing Aragorn, but before the walking montage -I might try that in the next edit.  Nod

Rain in some places are snow in other places.  Shrugging

So a flash snowfall somewhere on their way that melts is plausible.

And even here where there is no snow at the moment, I saw some remnants today. Even though it rained heavily a couple of days ago. It doesn't linger in the branches however.

I could buy it if they hadn't put the walking montage right before it- which implies at least a days travel by normal cinema conventions. For it then to be just, at latest, midmorning (and I would think its earlier to make way for the proper midmorning tea) and second breakfast, and clearly the first time the topic of breakfast has arisen doesn't make sense.

Even if they had just inserted a night camp shot on the end of the montage the breakfast scene would at least make sense.

Widespread snowfall, normal.
Concentrated rainfall, normal.
Rain destroys snow in some locations, not others.

They leave Bree late after second breakfast, discussion of second breakfast happens on second day.

Much of the pickiness is justified, but in this case it's trying too hard.

They cant be higher in the terrain unless they built their own hills to be higher on, not a few hours out from Bree. They'd be well passed Bree Hill, and thats flat land either side of the road until the Weatherhills.

Tolkien did not provide a topographic map, though I do have to agree the presence of the midgewater marshes not far from weathertop does imply low, not high terrain.

No he doesn't supply a topographical map, but in the relevant section he does take the time to inform the reader of the significance of Weathertop as a strategic location overlooking the surrounding flat land.
And from Weathertop they can easily see the road going on to the horizon in either direction.
