Lets call them 'works in progress' Norc. Nod

I thought the second one was the better of the two. Song of Captivity and Freedom is quite tricky sounding but you got the essentials. Especially the melody in the later part.

I am sure by your next recording you will have worked out the kinks. Nod

'Splendid Chaps* is a year-long performance/podcast project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who hosted by comedian Ben McKenzie (Dungeon Crawl, Melbourne Museum Comedy Tour) and writer John Richards (ABC1 sitcom Outland, Boxcutters podcast).
Described by its creators as part intellectual panel discussion, part nerdy Tonight Show, Splendid Chaps is a combination of analysis, enthusiasm and irreverence. The first episode went to number 1 on the iTunes TV & Film Podcast chart in Australia, and to number 4 in the UK.

Tickets are now on sale for the second live recording, which features actor Toby Truslove (ABC's Laid, Outland, The Strange Calls) and cultural theorist Dr Djoymi Baker discussing the second Doctor, Patrick Troughton, and the notion of “evil” in Doctor Who. Is it absolute? Are there cosmic forces of right and wrong? And is the Doctor always on the right side? Plus performance guest, cabaret comedian Dean Acuri – performing a song written especially for the show.'

You can listen to it here- http://www.splendidchaps.com/

Just started listening to it- quite good so far with a dash of Down Under humour.

** Who trivia- 'Splendid chaps' is a quote- its a line from the Brigadier in the 40th anniversary special The Five Doctors- "Splendid chaps. All of them."

You do have a nice vibrato sound when you play the long notes, not that horrible newbie sound. Atta girl! Nod

Not a shot of filming of series 7- this is the first Doctor's Tardis being set up for the filming of Gatiss' drama 'An Adventure in Space and Time" about Doctor Who's beginings.

They have also cast an unknown, Claudia Grant, as Carole Ann Ford (played Susan- the Doctors granddaughter).

Doctor Who [4] - Page 11 Image_zps3eb34a72Doctor Who [4] - Page 11 Susanforeman_zps9a0ffa41

I cant believe that the BBC wih a bloke cast to play Hartnell and after having to build a first Doctor's Tardis for this drama (and presumably cosole room too)- that they wont make use of this stuff in the anniversary episodes- I hope they do at any rate! bounce

They have cast them for the drama Gattis is writing for the annversary about how Who began- about the real people- Verity Lambert the first producer, Hartnell and the rest of the cast.
And obviously they have had to cast all the roles for this drama and build sets for it, including the 1st Doctors Tardis.

Question is, with all this available for Gattiss drama will Moffat get to use it if he wants in the Anniversary episodes?- as we know nothing about what Moffat has in mind for those- but looking at previous anniveraries we had the 5 doctors, the 3 doctors and the 2 doctors- so there is a theme there.
And surely having an actor cast in something else at the BBc to play the 1st Doctor, and all the sets there its to good to pass up on.

So far troll Moffat hasnt commented. Suspect

Ah, I undertand now, thanks.

Yes, I supsect Moffat and Gattiss dream this one up as a means of getting the necessary cash out the BBC- they can probably fund it out a different pot than the Who money as Gattiss drama will be BBC Fours drama deptartment probably. So they wil get all this 1st Doctor stuff and no dent in the Who budget.
He is a Scot afterall, so obviously thrifty and canny. Nod

The two Dalek films (I hesitate to call them Who films) staring Peter Cushing as a human inventor who makes the TARDIS Mad have been remasteed and are to be released.

Doctor Who [4] - Page 11 Image_zps5d8d0f4a

Doctor Who [4] - Page 11 Image_zps8b56b1af

Some things of interest - the first one, Dalek Invasion Earth is based closely on the 1st Doctor story of the same name - I'd recommend it over the film version.

The Daleks in this use what seems to be a fire extinguisher as a weapon (despite the posters showing what looks like a jet of flame or some sort of lasery thing)- this apparently was to get round problems with the British censors at the time.

Another thing of note to Whovians is that the companion in the first film is played by Bernard Cribbins- who decades later would return to play Wilf to Tennants 10th Doctor.

I like this guy- good presenter- he is doing a series for the anniversary covering each Doctor from the start- this is sort of a prologue video to that explaining how the show came into being (the period Gattiss' drama will be covering)
