“Here, here. It’s the dwarves that go swimming with little hairy women.”
Amazing the way PJ can capture the spirit of Tolkiens dialogue!
So glad that scene ended up on the cutting room floor- in my edit!

Oooh-kay. Seems to me you don't need anything more than the books and a sense of imagination to enjoy the story. I find it curious that he had to specify the "unabridged books" in his list. Are there even any abridged copies of Tolkien books out there, other than audiobooks?
Also, the grapic novel of The Hobbit and all three animated films are terrible.

Whats wrong with the graphic novel Eldo? Its nicley illustrated, it retains the original story and a surpising amount of the prose.

The one on my bookshelf!
See even a comic gets the length of pipe and Gandalfs beard right! How come you cant even get that right PJ?!!
Dwarves! Look they actually look like the description of dwarves! Amazing.
Can you believe it- they use actual words from the book! Take note PJ.

Re: Lord of the Rings Humour: Parodies, Satires and More
Three dwarves were lost in Silverpine Forest, when suddenly they were captured by a whole clan of Troll cannibals. The Troll's Witch Doctor told the Dwarves that they could live if they passed a trial. The first step of the trial was to go to the forest and get ten pieces of the same kind of fruit. So all three dwarves went separate ways to gather their fruit.
The first dwarf came back and said to the Witch Doctor: "I brought ten apples." The witch doctor said to him. place all of the fruit... somewhere... where fruit usually doesn't go.(in any part of the anatomy) And if the dwarf showed any emotion at all, the trolls insured him that he would be killed and made into dinner.
The first apple went in... but on the second, the poor dwarf winced in pain. And so, he was killed and made into dwarf yum yums.
The second dwarf arrived and showed the witch doctor ten berries (lucky him!). When the witch doctor explained the trial to the dwarf, the little bearded guy thought to himself that this should be easy. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... and on the ninth berry he burst out in laughter. The trolls dined on another set of dwarf yum yums that evening.
The first dwarf and the second dwarf met inside heaven. The first one asked: "Why did you laugh, you almost got away with it?". The second one replied: "I couldn't help it. I saw the third guy coming with pineapples!"

It's been a while since I read it but I wasn't terribly impressed by the art style or the way they handled it. I'll admit that terrible was an exaggeration though, especially compared to the animated movies.
Re: Lord of the Rings Humour: Parodies, Satires and More
I rather enjoyed most of the art myself, wasn't a fan of the goblins in it but most of the rest I enjoy. Just goes to show, something, probably.
