Mohammad entered his classroom.
"What is your name?" asked the teacher.
"Mohammad," answered the kid.
"Here in France, there is no Mohammad. From now on your name will be Jean-Francois," replied the teacher.
In the evening, Mohammad returned home.
"How was your day, Mohammad?" asked his mother.
"My name is not Mohammad. I am in France and my name is Jean-Francois."
"Ah, are you ashamed of your name?! Are you trying to disown your parents?! Your heritage?! Shame on you!" And she beat him. Then she called the father and he beat him very hard.
The next day Mohammad returned to school.
When the teacher saw him with all the bruises she asked:
"What happened my little Jean-Francois?"
"Well Miss, 2 hours after becoming French, I was attacked by two Arabs !!
"What is your name?" asked the teacher.
"Mohammad," answered the kid.
"Here in France, there is no Mohammad. From now on your name will be Jean-Francois," replied the teacher.

Mmmmm- fair enough on claiming the term 'hobbit' is used more geenrically and to describe a real early human species- but dragons in it? Pretty sure they dont show up in the history records!
The worse thing about that article is the headline- those are NOT Tolkien lawyers- they are WB lawyers- possibly the furthest thing from a lawyer working in Tolkiens interests there is on the planet!

The Asylum exists to make money by confusing people who want to see major blockbusters (though this is a bit more divergent than their usual style of knockoff). That's the majority of their business model On the other hand, The Saul Zaentz Company loves exists to sue people for idiotic reasons, such as using the word "shire", which has existed for centuries.

I think he sums it up pretty well in the last paragraph.
It is perhaps the case that the scene was not very well thought through. If so this discussion is rather meaningless. I am very interested to see how they will deal with this inconsistency in the upcoming movies. If they will comment it or not. Maybe they will remove the scene completely and have Tauriel free the dwarves?
