Very nice, Petty. Out of curiosity, what are the plants (ferns?) at the edge of the forest in the foreground of the picture?

There's two types of grass in there Eldo, ferns, bushes and a small shrub!

Did another version of the Mirkwood pic with some more 'stuff' in it.

That's awesome! I always find trees hard to do in any format. Tried to decarate a cake with a tree a few days ago, didn't turn out well. The guitar was just as bad. Oh well. Looks a lovely opening in the picture, I guess there aren't too many in Mirkwood looking as naturally gorgeous as that!

You should mail that image to Peter Jackson, Petty - I'm not sure I liked his Mirkwood (though it might look better on film).

I thought I'd update this thread with some autumn pictures from Norway. I have not taken them myself, but they are taken in areas not far from where I live (they're from a photo contest in the local newspaper).

Stunning Ringdrotten, just stunning. But dangerous- a giant herring could easily lurk in those!

Is it just the light in Norway? but those photos almost look like animations to me, Ringdrotten? I guess it's just that maybe the light's different in different parts of the world. Australian light is very bright and intense perhaps? I should travel.

It's a mix of light and autumn colours I think, Anne As to giant herrings, Petty - I've not seen that many lately (let alone caught any!). But you are quite right, I should watch my steps
