4500 is not a round number. Jumping the gun with the celebration, wait for 5000.

So from that site and poking around I discovered 'naturist' is another word for 'nudist'. Probably closer to the intent of the practitioners.

Re: Just...................whatever [8]
Vasa!!!!
She's one of the most remarkable stories in marine archaeology! She sank in Stockholm Harbor on her maiden voyage, and because of the mud and the cold water she didn't rot. 300 years later they were able to excavate her and actually refloat her on her own bottom.
Then they floated her to her present location and built the museum around her.
When I visited years ago I showed my maritime history credentials and got a backstage tour of the museum with the assistant director. There are many artifacts that aren't on display, because all of the contents of the ship were equally well preserved, including clothing and personal possessions of the crew.
The great-cabin has been meticulously restored, but I wasn't able to get a tour of that. It seems that as a national treasure it's only open to Swedish citizens and personal guests of the King (who has been known to entertain heads of state there....)

Re: Just...................whatever [8]
So Swedish citizenship is on par with a guest of the King? Round here all citizenship gets you is a discount to state parks.

Re: Just...................whatever [8]
I don't think Swedish citizenship alone gets you onboard Vasa. I think it takes citizenship and some kind of credential (political, academic, potential large donor etc.) I tried playing the "Swedish grandmother" card but it only got a smile. Apparently the King is the only one who can circumvent the citizenship requirement for guests.

Re: Just...................whatever [8]
Went to the casino last night to play poker. Entered a comp and won. Bagged myself just under $4'000. Very Happy
Only 3rd time i had entered a tournament. Last time i came 11th but only the top 10 paid so was a little unlucky.

Re: Just...................whatever [8]
That's high stakes poker - takes some confidence (or maybe a lot of money) to do that.

I think most of you would be fine with the aerobatics. They were only gentle ones.
The props thing is funny, it's just because of the frame rate of the camera creating the illusion of them being slow or not moving at all.
Az - did you recognise Eastbourne from the air?

Saw the Beachy Head lighthouse & I thought....."no, surely not ? our Lance on covert operations ? clandestine ? a secret fish N chips spy !" We can all sleep in our beds knowing a secret member of Forumshire is keeping our country safe. Orcs & cave trolls, Ringwraiths & mountain trolls watch out !

Re: Just...................whatever [8]
Halfy - apparently you are getting a flyover of the Blue Angel's, Thunderbirds and Red Arrows on Thursday... down the Hudson to Liberty Island!
I assume you will then be getting all 3 perform at the air show!!!
I am totally not jealous at all!!
Not sure if you have seen the reds fly before. You should give it a go if not. I have seen the Thunderbirds but they were limited to a low level display so hard to compare. Never even seen a Blue Angel!!!

Need to get a time. I'm running a camp now, I can see pulling the kids up to the roof of the building to watch that.
