Some folk complained at the time that he didnt go get the Brigadier, Captain Jack ect but the point is he would not want them involved in this- this is not a good side to him, the people he draws into it are ones who owe and therefore if they pay the price by dying its accepted by all thats just one way of repaying the debt.

Still annoyed the Brig never appeared in New Who, wasn't there a rumour Captain Jack was supposed to appear instead of The Blue Guy who got his head cut off (i.e leading to the face of boe)?

I am quite certain the BF license will be renewed- all the actors love working for them, they have been very successful as a side line and they have all the set up ready to keep going and all the contacts with writers and their agents for it. The BBC would be mad not to renew their license I think.

The main issue with Jago and Lightfoot is not introducing them to a new audience I dont think, they are very engaging characters and a lot of fun which is why they were an obvious choice for a spin off for BF in the first place. All the audience needs to know is they helped out 4 and 8.
The main problem is that on BF they are voiced by the original actors, who unfortunately are now too old to play the parts on TV, you would have to recast the roles, and there is no guarantee new actors would recreate the chemistry.

The Jack rumour has never been confirmed. I think it was just wishful thinking on some folks behalf.

The BBC has done seven or eight audios themselves, I've heard they are quite good (I'm not really a big fan of Torchwood though), the format does take some getting used to, but I'm become a big fan of Big Finish's Who stories , in some ways I prefer it to the TV series, the scripts are generally really good, and the actors have to sell the story soley on their voices (both Colin Baker and Paul Mcgann excel when given good scripts) , sure it dosen't have snazzy effects, and the pacing can be a little off at times (Looking at you Zagreus...) but there's huge potential in the format, as they don't have to worry about budgets or being too family friendly they can do almost anything they want...

It is worth noting that Audio who now outnumbers Televised Who by quite a distance....

This is rather delightful- teeny-tot reviewer Lindalee is at the premiere of Cinderella to get an interview with the actor who plays the Prince, Richard Madden, until that is she spots his girlfriend. The look of sheer delight on Lindalee's face is wonderful to behold. Very Happy

And a nice fan vid for 11 and Amy that nicely shows the development and change in the characters over the piece together-

Dunno, for all w eknow she s one of the female writers they already tried to get onboard and couldnt because of commitment clashes- maybe she isnt very good at writing for tv, its a different skill set from books (look at last series Forest of the Night to see how best selling award winning author is no guarantee the episode will be any good)

Readers poll in the RT for top 10 episodes of NuWho-

1. BLINK (2007)
DOCTOR: David Tennant / WRITER: Steven Moffat
2. VINCENT & THE DOCTOR (2010)
DOCTOR: Matt Smith / WRITER: Richard Curtis
3. THE STOLEN EARTH / JOURNEY’S END (2008)
DOCTOR: David Tennant / WRITER: Russell T Davies
4. THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR (2013)
DOCTORS: Matt Smith, David Tennant, John Hurt / WRITER: Steven Moffat
5. THE EMPTY CHILD / THE DOCTOR DANCES (2005)
DOCTOR: Christopher Eccleston / WRITER: Steven Moffat
6. ARMY OF GHOSTS / DOOMSDAY (2006)
DOCTOR: David Tennant / WRITER: Russell T Davies
7. THE GIRL IN THE FIREPLACE (2006)
DOCTOR: David Tennant / WRITER: Steven Moffat
8. BAD WOLF / THE PARTING OF THE WAYS (2005)
DOCTOR: Christopher Eccleston / WRITER: Russell T Davies
9. SILENCE IN THE LIBRARY / FOREST OF THE DEAD (2008)
DOCTOR: David Tennant / WRITER: Steven Moffat
10. THE END OF TIME (2009/10)
DOCTOR: David Tennant WRITER: Russell T Davies

God knows how Stolen Earth made no 3. Some great individual scenes but the story is ropier than a fleet of sailing ships worth of rope.
Same goes for Army of Ghosts and its not sure its even intentional comedy team up of Dalek and Cyermen.
And I guess the emo crowd voted for Tennants whiny exit in End of Time.
I dont get how those two episodes make this list from the 10 era and Family of Blood doesn't. Or Midnight. Or Turn Left. Mad

Hmm...he's written for every series hasn't he? Next showrunner me thinks (not hopes)

He might be delighted, but I'm not sure the fanbase will be, he seems to get alot of hate.

In some ways I like his writing, most of his stories are just simple silly fun, perfect for sitting down with the family on a saturday night (In my own experience casual viewers prefer simple silly stories), on the other hand most of his eps feel kinda incomplete, and rushed towards the end, I'm not sure if his style of writing would work on a 2 parter (though I enjoyed his BF story Invaders from Mars) but I hope he's making a break from the pseudo historicals...

Episodes he has written are-

Series 1- The Unquiet Dead (Dickens and gaseous aliens in Victorian Wales)

Series 2 - The Idiots Lantern (face stealing alien the Wire using early TV and the Coronation audience to eat everyone's face)

Series 5 - Victory of the Daleks (Pure Daleks with fat arses and a paint job set in Churchill's War Bunker)

Series 6- Night Terrors (terrified child with a scary closet)

Series 7- Cold War (soviet sub, Ultravox and an Ice Warrior from Mars)

The Crimson Horror (Victorian Yorkshire, the Paternost Gang and Mr Sweet)

Series 8- Robots of Sherwood (Robin Hood and robotic Sheriff)

So out of those he has written only Night Terrors is contemporary. And four of them display his love of the macabre and the strange.

And he has also appeared quite a few times in episodes, sometimes credited sometimes not.

He starred in the Lazerus Experiment.

He plays Danny Boy the spitfire captain in Victory of the Daleks and A Good Man Goes to War.

He turns up as the chess playing Gantok in Wedding of River Song (under the pseudonym Rondo Haxton).

He has written 2 BF stories- The Sirens of Time and Invaders from Mars (which he also directed), as well as appearing in three others- Phantasmagoria, The Mutant Phase and Sword of Orion.

He also wrote two books for the New Adventurers series- Nightshade and St Anthony's Fire.
