Wizard and Glass is great so far! I didn't like how unpleasant King made the witch character, as it felt rather ageist (King is quite concerned in his writing with the idea of age leading to decay and the lessening of a person. For my part I prefer the idea of age bringing wisdom and kindness.)

But hey, entertaining action bits, and seeing more of the gunslinger's world can only be a good thing in my opinion!

Not my joke, but thought I'd share:

What do you call a couple of Can-Toi stuck in the Himalayas?

Whoosh

What are Can-Toi? Or is that a spoiler?

I like the apparent humour of it though; it sounds like the sort of joke Roland would make maybe.

Interesting! Not sure how I feel about them starting in the middle of it all, but I guess they've got a plan (or so I hope). Not seen much of either of these two actors, but King himself seems pleased, so that's good enough for me I guess. Can't wait to read more and see trailers eventually - I just want these movies (there has to be more than one) to be great, but I'm thinking I should be preparing myself for a huge disappointment. We'll see Very Happy

I can't describe in words how much I don't care about this production. They won't be getting any of my money.

  [The movie] starts in media res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning, which may upset some of the fans a little bit, but they’ll get behind it, because it is the story,” King says

Did you read the Wind through the Keyhole, bungo? I was just thinking about it the other day, it's one of those books I quite often feel like rereading.

Not yet, Ringo. Embarassed It's in a long list of movies and books that I feel like I'll never get to. Though, I think I'll move it to the top of the queue. Wink And I am off work tomorrow, so...you never know. Shrugging

Recently I was at a local comic book/game store and was disappointed that they didn't have the first issue of the Dark Tower graphic novels. Think if I get them I'll opt for those fancy omnibus editions.

{{I've not read the series but the premise as it comes across to me in this trailer, especially the line about a whole other world out there, seems very reminiscent of Kings collab novel with Peter Straub, The Talisman.
If you have read it are they similar ideas? }}}

I've not read it, but there are some similarities. The Dark Tower incorporates a lot of King's ideas, stories, and characters into one series. The Talisman and Dark Tower both use the concept of "twinners," people that are entirely identical but are from parallel worlds.

I read that the trailer will be officially released on October 29. It was unfinished and compressed, but not unwatchable. I was able to download it.

Something funny about the trailer is that the music used is a cover of "Behind Blue Eyes," but in this it's pretty fucking clear that they threw that out the window because Idris Elba's eyes sure aren't fucking blue. And no, I don't think "they're gonna fix it in post."

I could send you the .mp4 file I have of the trailer. It might induce crabbit, though. But it could give you a better idea.

Yeah, a fast and loose adaptation reminds me a lot of the treatment TH got. Then I recall people on here and elsewhere on the internet hoping that although they weren't good adaptations, they could still be good movies. Which is a reasonable thought to have, but I'm banking on this being an "okay" to "bad" movie.
