And yes, the going rate for a 30 second Super Bowl commercial this year is $4 million. It's always the most-watched TV event of the year by a very large margin so advertisers are willing to cough up the big bucks.

Also, after Janet Jackson the NFL brought in a lot of old boring white guys until people forgot the controversy. This year they're bringing in Beyonce though, so I wouldn't be opposed to a wardrobe malfunction, for once.

The Super Bowl is about to begin so it's time to go and join the party. I didn't think I had any Ravens gear to wear but I managed to get an old sweatshirt from their first Super Bowl victory a dozen years ago from my grandfather. It turns out that my dad had gotten a Ravens sweatshirt for him, but my granddad is a big fan of the Steelers (the Ravens biggest rivals) so he let me have the shirt.

A very well-played game by the 49ers in the second half though.

Oh yeah! A well played game played by two excellent teams with similar styles. It could have gone either way, right to the end. (So much better than some of the blow-outs we've had in the past where the only reason to keep watching the second half was for the commercials... )

And what did you think of that power outage?

The power outage was some bullshit. Aside from being boring and killing the momentum, I think it definitely messed with the Ravens' heads. Props to the 49ers for taking advantage of a shitty situation and starting to play like a Super Bowl team after that, though.

The only thing that really bothered me was how clearly a lot of the commentators really wanted the Ravens to lose. Phil Simms was the worst. "I will go down with Colin Kaepernick no matter what happens" ... I'm sure you will, Phil.

So anyway, it's a sweet victory. But much respect to the 49ers and their fans, except for Jim Harbaugh, who has proven himself to be just as sore a loser as everyone expected him to be.
