Um to get back to sport my club, Glasgow Rangers, which tecnically no longer exists, also has no league as of yet to play in.
At a vote today the chairman of the other teams in the Scottish premiership voted to bar us from the league.
This means either starting in the First Divison (which the teams there are opposed to) or starting from the very bottom in the Third Divsion- this last option however, which in the sporting snse is fairest, would cost the game an estimated 16million a year in revenue. The Scottish Football Associations own estimates say at least 6 premier teams would go to the wall if that amount of advertising and tv money was lost, effectively collapsing the league.
Bad times indeed. Sad

Better news: Murray beat Fererer in 4 sets! Very Happy Tsonga next in the semis- tough but not as tough as Nadal!
I've always supported Murray win or lose every slam every year as he's my favourite player but there's no denying he has a real chance at history this year

I think Button might get Silverstone.

Have you seen his recent form? He's gone off the boil. And although Hamilton seems to have got his head screwed on again this year the team seemed determined to "£$EW%^ it up for him one way or another. At this rate best bet might be Di Resta who's having another solid season.

Good job by Murray. Hopefully he will find Tsonga an easier opponent than Ferrer and get to the final. On the other side, I guess we want a gruelling 5 setter between those 2 as they were in awesome form today!

Tsonga has a mighty big serve but Murray is such a great defender that its a really interesting match. Murray should win but it won't be easy: Murray in 4 is my prediction.

Yea, you're right Lance- didn't see Djoko today but caught a bit of Federer and he was ruthlessly majestic as he so often is

Perhaps a 7-6 6-7 6-7 7-6 31-29 would help but they are all so fit (in both ways) so hopefully Murray performs these next couple of d Razz ays

Good luck Andy!
I see Downing Street is flying the saltire instead of the Union Jack- nice to see the PM keeping politics out of sport! (Newsnight ended on Friday by wishing him good luck and with a wry comment that we will find out if he is British or Scottish) Very Happy

Tis an English thing Ally- its their news calls him Scottish when he loses at a Brit if he wins- I think thye are just still smarting that a 'true' englishman like Hendman wasn't quite good enough to get to th final. The Wimbeldon fans have never quite got behind him the way they did Hendman.

Ah! Not a dry eye in our house either. Murray and Feds gave us all so much to cheer about. Drinking fizz and toasting a vintage Wimbers. Gutted for him, you can so tell how much he wanted it. He gave it his all and full steam ahead to the Olympics and the US open now!

(I'm not so sure- everyone seemed to be cheering him on when Federer was serving for the match- Henman had the charisma but even the English appreciate how talented Murray is!)

Valiant effort. Didn't take the Beeb long though, there report on it starts : 'Murray, 25, was aiming to become the first British man since Fred Perry in 1936 to lift a major singles trophy. He was the first Briton to contest the Wimbledon men's singles final since Bunny Austin in 1938,' by the time you get to the last paragraph and him losing; 'Murray was reeled in from 40-0, Federer moving to deuce when the Scot took a heavy tumble at the net'- he's become a Scot again!

Just because they mentioned he was Scottish- which he is- doesn't mean anything. He has English critics for sure, but that's just because they want him to win a slam

Petty - what exactly is it that you read or listen too?

I thought the BBC coverage amde quite a lot of his Scottishness and the reports below seem to discount your theory. He is British by official nationality you know!!

Before Tsonga match:

"Jo's a tough opponent, he's served very well in this tournament, he's one of the best grasscourt players in the world," the Scot told a news conference.

After beating David Ferrer:

The Scot, who sent down 18 aces altogether, said it was tense in the dressing-rooms during the rain interruption.

Ferrer, who had previously dropped just one set in the tournament, had a set point in the first set at 5-4 but the Scot fended it off before the Spaniard came through to win the tiebreak 7-5 in a little over an hour.

After beating Tsonga:

The match finished in confusion when Murray's forehand service return on match point was called out, even as the Scot was dropping his racket and putting his hands to his head in relief at having apparently won.

I thought the crowd really tried to get behind him all tournament and at the end of the final were doing their best to try and rally him. Not really sure what more you want?
