HEY ELDO !

So many times I want to shout this , who knows why.  So I at last stopped being lazy and did it. WE WANT TO KNOW ALL ABOUT YOU, well as much as possible, and well at least I do
Your mother, how many costumes has she sewn for you? I mentioned that to someone in our family and the look of disdain and murder in his eyes silenced me at least here. And the fact you let her, wow you are a really cool family
!  I mentioned it to another member of the fam and he was thrilled. Even in one family you get mixed feelings.   

How to cosplay:
1-Pick a character.
2-Buy fabric.
3-Procrastinate.
4-Speed sew last minute/get friend or family member to it
5-Hate self while sewing/annoy friend or family member
6-Cosplay done

I'm not sure where to begin when asked "all about me". As for costumes, my mother sewed Halloween costumes for me and my brother every year (except once when I went with a store-bought costume when I was five) until I was about 12 or 13.  Then she didn't sew any costumes for a number of years because we didn't go trick-or-treating anymore until last year, when she made us both costumes for Otakon.  She's making costumes again this year since she said she really missed making costumes (she insists she's no good at sewing but I've always disagreed).

I'm not sure why this story bothered someone in your family, though.  Maybe they're a cosplay purist?

Eldo, in all honesty, I think thats a lovely tale of you & your mother ! her, making the costumes out of fun & love, (or she wouldnt do it ?) & YOU for being happy to join in ! My kids & I always dressed up for Halloween, we still do it now, My girls are in their 30s, one is 28yrs, even my 18yr old son joins in, so do ALL the grandkids. its a time of fun ! we do games & dares & watch creepy films (after little kids are in bed !) It brings us together.

well.. ok.

She was actually really upset when I was five years old and decided to get a store-bought costume since that's what all the kids I knew in Kindergarten were doing. I mean, she did a pretty good job of hiding it, but I was able to tell even then and I felt bad about it for a long time afterwards.

Thanks, everybody! I've been having a lazy day of lying in so far since I have a crazy-busy weekend coming up but reading all the birthday wishes is a nice way to start the day. ^_^ And Forumshire birthday threads have become a really nice tradition for my last several birthdays!
