LOTR got them more tourism a few years back so I don't think that a fresh ad campaign alongside The Hobbit is too crazy. The NZ government does have a penchant for going overboard when it comes to PJ-related stuff, though.

Dont you go putting ludicrous words in my mouth Halfy!! There is nothing wrong with the drakness of the grain, however it has clearly been plained with an electrical tool which ruins the whole set for eveyone I should say!

Not sure I like it- giving Gandalf such a blatant line about sparing lives kind of takes away from Bilbos decision to spare Gollums when the time comes. I dont think the script needs, or should, foreshadow that so clumsily.

It's pretty obvious foreshadowing since I've read the book but I like the scene, mainly just for the glimpse of interaction between Ian McKellen and Martin Freeman. Although I note that the say "orcs or goblins", which I'm sure will just lead to even more confusion about the nature of orcs in the future. That is nitpicking, though.

Its the foreshadowing worries me- its pretty clumsy writting and I prefer Bilbos decision to be taken solely by him in the moment- thats what makes it powerful. If he's been 'prepped' its not the same.

No problem, Petty. I see your point, but I'll wait and see how it works in the complete film. PJ has been clumsy with foreshadowing in the past though, I'll certainly agree to that.

I wouldn't mind PJ following the Bored of the Rings interpretation of that scene, though.

In the end, Dildo won the game. Stumped at last for a riddle to ask, he cried out, as his hand fell on his snub-nosed .38, 'What have I got in my pocket?' This Goddam failed to answer, and growing impatient, he paddled up to Dildo, whining, 'Let me see, let me see.' Dildo obliged by pulling out the pistol and emptying it in Goddam's direction. The dark spoiled his aim, and he managed only to deflate the rubber float, leaving Goddam to flounder. Goddam, who couldn't swim, reached out his hand to Dildo and begged him to pull him out, and as he did, Dildo noticed an interesting looking ring on his finger and pulled it off. He would have finished Goddam off then and there, but pity stayed his hand. It's a pity I've run out of bullets, he thought, as he went back up the tunnel, pursued by Goddam's cries of rage.

Petty I feel your pain. Gandalfs left eyebrow is made from NZ hair not English hair, which as we know is slightly springier and curlier, it ruins the scene for me. It foreshadows doom. DOOM I SAY!!!!!
