Nah, there isn't much. Smaug's tail and one of his wings flies through the frame and you see a fireball going towards what I think is Dale (in flashback, presumably). Chances are there's not going to be much more than that glimpse in the first film.

Thanks to you all I am just waiting on pins and needles( honestly why would anyone EVER be that stupid?) to get my ticket on line.

Question, I am rather feminine and I do like to dress that way going out. But since i will be alone, honestly I don't want my friends to come, they will not be quiet. All i will hear is how nummy the chocolate is, why we should not eat the nachos(too many carbs") etc, so my question is=====should I dress feminine or should I wear jeans, a faux fur jacket, some leather boots and a beanie (it is cold here at the moment) so that when I start tearing up and people turn around they will think I can handle it alone?

I am not joking. I have been in such stupid situations you cannot believe. Just because at one rock concert I was a little overcome at one song, a boy of fifteen, FIFTEEN asked me out for coffee after and it took my girlfriend to squelch that with her amazing withering looks. It was the worst. I pointed out my sons to him, we were all in a rock band together at the time, and he said ' what's your point? So either i am going to have to just NOT CRY , good luck with that, or look tougher. So what say you all. Please help me, I want to get the most out of the evening.

I have a similar problm as my face can get very red and puffy withthe crabbit.

Leelee, just wear your normal clothes underneath a huge faux fur coat down to your ankles, and then you can hide in it if you cry, and if anyone bothers you, let out a growl like a bear and say you are Beorns wife. That should make them back-off quick enough. and it will keep you warm.

Yeah its shot from above Smaug, he flies into frame from the right, you mainly see his wing, a bit of his back and some tail- but the quality is really bad.
But he looks like a Black Dragon here to me. Combined with PJ's description of him being decrepit and I'm now a bit worried that he will not be Smaug the Magnificant anymore and definetly not Golden.

well to be honest I always thought of Smaug as well past his sell by date. I think of him as ancient and withered, not young and muscular. I think he is an ancient and cunning Dragon, still powerful by anyones standards but a bit like the white Dragon in Harry Potter, still super dangerous but a bit OAP. I think PJ has got the right idea. Otherwise he will look too much like a generic Hollywood perfect Dragon, whereas Smaug is all about character. He needs to look old and cunning not young and perfect.

Its just another way of describing ancient. I want Smaug to be ancient. I want to see flashes of his past magnificence only when he storms forth from the mountain to get revenge, but before that he has to be a wily old fox, smug and arrogant, sly and subtle, magnificent in his malice.
