On the plus side this gives me a glimmer of hope we might get the 'good morning' conversation at least. (Although I still expect PJ to make a complete balls of the original dialogue even if we do get it, given his obvious distaste for Tokiens dialogue)

yeah I said that about the puppy fat last night on TORn, but I think its just a really bad photo, if you see the vlogs, he looks pretty damn similar to how he used to do. These new photos are probably stills that have not yet been tweeked, they may try to make him look a bit younger in post production, but no matter, its 10 years ago, there is no way an 18 year old is going to look identical to a 30 year old. I think its Legolas that looks the most different, he is heavier.

Of course PJ could have avoided this problem by, you know, not putting characters from LotR that arent in TH in TH where they have no business being.

Its going to be a bit odd if you watch them in order (particularly back to back) I think and even more noticable.

But perhaps you are right and they are going airbrush him a bit to look younger.

Yeah, obviously Elijah Wood has aged considerably in the past 12 years but I think they've done a pretty good job establishing visual continuity from what we've seen so far. It's not so jarring when you aren't looking at pictures side-by-side.

Might be a bit jarring watching the films back to back though in chronoligical order- maybe Frodo has a dorian gray style paining in Bag End somewhere!

yepp, Elijah isn't looking very much older, seen the latest series.. the one with the man in dog clothes, didn't look a day older. Legolas/Orlando is another matter. His face is more... well.. a bit more saggier.. if you know what I mean. He's also a bit bigger, heavier. Chubby.

Some people doesn't seem to age, like Elijah Wood and Simon Pegg, some age with elegance and becomes even better looking, George Clooney, Rupert Graves, Martin Freeman, and some .. don't. Like Orlando (SORRY! but he looked better when he was younger).

I agree with you Norc, Elijah is just as cute as he was. and Legolas is much chubbier round the chops. Sir Ian looks the same, and Chris Lee looks the same, Hugo looks the same. Its amazing really.
and you are right Eldo, they have done a great job with continuity for Frodo, it looks like the same wig and clothes to me.

Ten years from now, watching The Hobbit trilogy before the LOTR trilogy will be seen the same way that watching the Star Wars prequels before the originals is seen today. You heard it here first. Very Happy

I assume they made a fresh set of wigs and costumes but the accuracy really is remarkable. I do wonder how many sets and props they were able to reuse though. I recall reading that Jackson took the Bag End set home after LOTR was done and used it as a guest house. Laughing
