Wait, really? I'd been pronouncing it "squatch" this whole time. Laughing

Yes, but the difference in pronunciation between 'tch' and 'ch' is usually negligible. study

I go for Squaw-ch. Which is similar but not the same as Squaw-tch.

If I were trying to spell it phonetically I suppose I pronounced it "Skwah-ch", but I don't see much of a difference between that an "Skwah-tch". I'd pronounce the latter the same as the former. But then again, I do have a strange Baltimorean accent (though it's not as bad as it used to be).

I'd pronounce the 't'- if it had one, which is doesn't.

There's the problem, then. The letter 'T' doesn't really exist in Baltimorean accents. It appears in the name of the city but it's not pronounced there or in many other words. Rolling Eyes

So we are agreed then? When Odo insited Squach couldn't spell and it should be Squatch he was completely wrong and should apologise from a prostrate position of utter humility forewith. Nod And maybe she will come back.

Would that be "Sqwaa'ch" then? Or "Sqwar'ch" or "Sqwaa'tch" or "Squar'tch" Eldo?

Mmm... Let's examines the possibles...

Squach = Sq'watch, as in "watch".

Squach = Squaach (or Squaatch), as in ""caark."

Squach = Squarch (or Squarch), as is "starch".

Squach = Sqauch, as in "wash" or (squash)

Squach - Squach, as in "catch."

What were the others? I'm getting very confused...

Well, it seems clear Squach ( Rolling Eyes ) made up that name herself, without any thought for others, and so I owe NO apologies! I think I'll call her Daisy from now on, as that's a most proper name for a young Lady hobbit.

Hello, Daisy. Very Happy

Such a pretty flower
is the daisy,
Bright of face
and rarely lazy,
though Odo says
the sun drove her crazy,
Oh poor poor girl
poor little
Daisy
