I see they have left New Zealand and are making series 2 in Britain.

Flip back to the bottom of the last page, Chris. The disenchantment has already erupted.

Sorry. On my phone. Reading the forum on it is so bad. How do I get it back to the old one. It's not changed on my computer.

No idea. I only do web based stuff on my phone when I have no other option...which is damn useful when you need it but not so good for entertainment.

I don't like the mobile version either. I prefer to pan and zoom and huff at the web version on a small screen.
But it has its uses, I suppose. A trick I have used is to bookmark the page with the list of latest posts. Then you can use the links there to jump to the latest post in the thread. Far less annoying that way.

Does the web version have latest posts? Not that it's needed.

{{ Bad news you mean Now dont get me wrong, Howard Shore put in a good score for the films (I'd have liked a bit more diversity in feel and style for the different races and places myself but was still a good score) but this just ties it further in with the bloody PJ version of Tolkien and all its associated issues }}

Re: Amazon, Warner Bros in Talks for LOTR Series Adaptation: Variety
I may have had mixed feelings except that they have two composers, which is good. Music can make or break the experience, and Howard Shore made LotR memorable. But I did want this series to feel different. With a second composer they can do that while still having a proven composer in their pocket. The only themes that can connect the two are the Ring themes and the Galadriel/Lorien theme, so we will get quite a few new ones. I suspect the Numenor theme may play off the Minas Tirith theme.

Re: Amazon, Warner Bros in Talks for LOTR Series Adaptation: Variety
{{ My worry is they are tryng too much to tie it to PJ's version and how far that may go. Who are they more concerned with not contradicting?Tolkien? Or PJ? They were shooting in NZ so itll look much the same, despite NZ not having a diverse enough landscape for all ME. They were supposedly using WETA workshop for props, so they will look much the same. Now they will sound much the same as well.
Will that extend to mistakes too? When Osgiliath is founded will it be on a ugly huge bleak dustbowl instead of in fertile farmlands with farms and vineyards just because PJ made it a horrible dust bowl? How closely are they looking to tie it in to the films worries me. }}

Howard Shores score for The Hobbit was forgettable and boring. I hope he does something new.

My guess is they will use Shore to establish recurring themes, while the other guy will do incidental music based on that.

Re: Amazon, Warner Bros in Talks for LOTR Series Adaptation: Variety
I'm withdrawing my nod of approval for the second composer, Bear Mccreary. Here's his main title theme for Godzilla. Boilerplate, not memorable.
I suppose he'll be okay for incidental music, but we'll have forgotten it the moment it's over.

They need to ask the guy who did Game of Thrones score, he was fantastic.

He also did WestWorld. My worry about him is he's rather modernistic. I know the GoT theme was a catchy earworm, but I don't think he's quite right for Tolkien.

{{ Murray Gold. After a decade of scoring Who he has shown a huge range in style and diversity and choice of instruments. He excels at creating memorable character themes, and his music is really good at interperting the narrative and reinforcing it. And almost all his main melodies in Who are memorable. }}

I don't find that Gallifrey theme memorable, though I have heard other cues from him that stick.
