Re: The YouTube thread [2]
My mum never drove a car because she couldn't tell the difference between green and red so the thought of going through a set of traffic lights terrified her.

Re: The YouTube thread [2]
could she not tell by looking at the brightness? I know here when we have very bright sunlight and I am wearing very dark sunglasses its hard to tell when the light changes until you see a flash of light, and then sometimes the other drivers will honk to let you know, its very embarrassing though. I guess it could be dangerous during the day as you approach the lights if you are not sure they have changed, but less so at night.

I think he whiffed on Mona Lisa. Rembrandt looks too young. The rest are pretty good. But they all seem stuck in their hair, huh? Doesn't move with them, like the ends are glued in a box.

Those paws are something else! I think he would have slipped off without them.

Re: The YouTube thread [2]
I wanted to see Maude Adams, the one shown in profile at the beginning. Too bad.

Initially I thought it was great then I realised the work gone into Bill & Ben, then the weird yellow dog with a Dinosaurs head, so fluid ! Clothes on & theyde be human, had to laugh when the Dyson rolled along yeah it was fun & it got me bopping but, am I thinking I better absorb this as one of these will be my care nurse when I hit the old biddies home ?

Re: The YouTube thread [2]
Continuing on from the Books thread about Douglas Murray's work, I listened to this interview recently and really appreciated the message of reconciliation and trying to find middle ground between disparate elements here in the US. Caught as I am between people of various political extremes, this topic is of much practical interest to me. (I only listened to the audio, didn't watch the video.)

And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

Re: The YouTube thread [2]
Chuck Todd presented a survey of voters in which 17% called themselves Warren/Sanders democrats, 17% called themselves Biden democrats, 17% called themselves Trump Republicans, and 17% called themselves Republicans but not identified with Trump. Sounds like we have 4 parties. Unfortunately I don't think the middle two can form a moderate party (to dominate and get things done) since the central parts of each party still have major idealogical differences.
I'll listen to that podcast in bits and pieces. Our country definitely needs fixing, but I don't know how. Years ago I was hoping Trump would be such an outcast that it would unite much of both parties against him. But even the Republican politicians who stated their disdain for him rolled over and showed their bellies once his popularity became evident.
