Same here! I was just talking online with a buddy about our favourite books of LotR and I told him that Fellowship will always be my favourite, and it's due to that same stretch of the story.

My experience with technical people is that they will not be that interesting unless they can use their toys as a talking prop. Straight interviews only work with actors, whose job and talent is connecting with people. For tech interviews you have to get in there and get your hands dirty or it will be a snoozefest.
