So I was watching the movie Ragnorak, which is subtitled so you can hear the Norwegian.  And it was all going along fine until I was stopped cold when I heard the word:

"Veekings".   VEEKINGS?!!

My somewhat youngish Chinese friend actually believed at some point that life would unroll like a script: you finish school, you get a great job, you meet someone and get married, you have kids, rum-tum-tiddle-um-pom. In her early 30's and still had the dream. Explaining it almost never worked that way was met with disbelief.

Then she graduated and discovered she couldn't work here without the right visa, and it all sort of unraveled from there. It really hurt to see someone who had held onto a dream for so long get it smashed. But we've nearly all been through it. You chase the dream and hope to get lucky, but when you don't, shrug your shoulders and try another one.
