Something I noticed when talking with Norc in years past is that most Norwegian swear words seem to revolve around Satan, whereas so many English swear words are in origin misogynistic and/or homophobic slurs (even stuff that today is considered really tame, like asshole or sucker).

I'm not sure I'd say misogynistic/homophobic so much as simply sexual. But sexual with a range. And a genre of the scatalogical.

"Asshole" means you "take it up the ass" (just as frequently means you're a rape victim as it means being actually homosexual, though) and "sucker" is derived from "cocksucker", which should be self-explanatorily homophobic when used as a slur (and also with a rapey undertone). This is without even touching on the vast number of gendered slurs targeted at women. English language swear words are fuckin' nasty, yo.

You also have prick, cock, dick, twat, cunt, pussy, fuck, fucker, all of which are purely sexual with no other baggage.  Bastard mates with bitch; the only other words or combos that seem misygonistic to me would be motherfucker and whore; the words that are clearly homosexual slurs would be faggot; add to the scatological terms (shit, etc) and the NON-clearly misogynistic or homo slurs greatly outnumber those that are.  So I think you do the English language a great disservice by limiting it the way you have.
