Halfwise calls you Norclet, its a term of endearment, not a cat but still a kitten kind of thing.

Yep, that's it. Your english is so good that I forget you may not have the ear for fond diminutives. By comparison my dad used to call us 'kidlet'.
I remember how I laughed out loud when I heard a Czech refer to her Russian boyfriend as "Honishka." They had to converse in english, so she had formed a combination of an english term of endearment with the Russian diminutive.

Re: All-time favorite movies
Your list Azriel reminded of one my favourite scenes to watch-
Both Born of Hope and Hunt of for Gollum I prefer to PJ's efforts- at least in Born of Hope it sounds like Tolkien!

Re: All-time favorite movies
Watched "The Boston Strangler" today, dont know why I havnt seen it sooner, it was really good. I liked the split screen scenes, & Henry Fonda coaxing Tony Curtis to reveal himself kept me glued to the seat. Some older films were so good. What they lacked in CGI, etc, they really made up for with story content. Some of it very high quality...... Ah! there you have it ! send PJ BACK in time, might in prove things maybe ??

Re: All-time favorite movies
Hmm. I don't think I could narrow it down to a top ten, and my 'faves' change quite frequently, but here are a few in no real order (there are many films I love, but only a few I have watched enough to qualify as faves):
The Thin Red Line
The Godfather 1+2 (definitely not 3)
Raiders of The Lost Ark
Star Wars OT Trilogy
Unforgiven
Shawshank Redemption
Jurrasic Park apparently, given I watched it twice yesterday
The Room (I don't think it's good, but bloody hilarious...)
Where Eagles Dare
The Prestige
Groundhog Day
Taxi Driver
Once Upon A Time In America (I have actually only seen this the whole way through once but loved it)
Field of Dreams
Children of Men
Planet Of The Apes (1968)
Apocalypse Now
The Living Daylights
Terminator 2
Most of LOTR (esp FOTR, though I haven't watched them in two or three years...maybe Petty's opinions have effected my own...)
Blade Runner
Die Hard
Badlands
Brazil
Gladiator
Back To The Future Trilogy
*Honorable mentions, OHMSS, LA Confidentional, the studio ghibli films I have watched, The Wicker Man and A Nightmare Before Christmas.

Same here, absolutely loved that movie. That's a great list, Malick, I can see many of my own favourites in there I like that Unforgiven is on that list, great movie.

Though I enjoyed Once Upon a Time in America, it's Sergio Leone, for crying out loud: shouldn't it be replaced with Once Upon a Time in the West? But maybe that spot has been ceded to Unforgiven. Damn hard choice.

Same thing goes for Gladiator versus Spartacus. I have to lean towards Spartacus on this one.

I don't know which I like better, actually. Big fan of both westerns and mob movies, so I'm just glad he made masterpieces in both genres
