What exactly are the main duties/benefits of being Mayor of our humble/crass/weird little shire anyway?

increase taxes on Buckie- Mrs Figg

Evil or Very Mad You do know that in Scotland such a declaration is a statement of madness and you would be quite rightly put away for the safety of all! No one would vote for such ruin (and potential sobriety) Figg.  Mad

'What exactly are the main duties/benefits of being Mayor of our humble/crass/weird little shire anyway?' - Malick

Mad I already explained that!!  Mad

'The position of Mayor is one for the people, because it has no actual power, under the rules of the last election mods and Admin are not eligible to run.
The main duty of Mayor is to represent Forumshire at banquets in a humorous fashion that will make for a good tale later.'

Occasionally turning up late to banquets, whilst nicking free food and attempting to crack jokes with strangers.

Sounds fun, heck I'll throw my name in...

I certainly think Scotshobbits generally - and Petty particularly - should drink a little less buckie, but I don't think I'd like to see him totally sober... No one has. What would he be like?  I fear crabbit of great magnitutude!  Shocked

And if geoducks are land-ducks as I suppose, then I think they should not be left unfettered. I mean, they should have some sort of protective enclosure around them - especially at night - in case of foxes. That's only sensible, and your Mayor should be sensible.  Very Happy

It is such a shame that all the candidates are descending to the use of derogatory language, save Mirabella Banks who clearly shows her excellent quality (of the highest order). She is a Reasonable, Fair Minded, Thoughtful, yet Stongly Moral, young woman. If I am allowed to Vote - and these things are not certain as for some unfair and bizarre reason the Bankses and their respectable associates are usually not allowed to vote - then Mirabella certainly has my vote. She is clearly the Voice of Reason as she states and has already landed the Moral Vote as far as I can see.   Nod

As candidate for mayor, I will not make promises I cannot keep. And one thing I will never stoop to is bribing candidates with preferential treatment on certain issues, or promising favors for votes. I vow to represent Forumshire, and the respectability this domain demands, to my utmost ability. I will see to it that the Queen's Justice is carried out swiftly, and efficiently with the implementation of a portal to an alternate dimension where the guilty will meet their fate at the hands of the Deep Ones.

Under my mayorship, the geoduck will be classified as a protected species, and any individual caught in violation of any laws or regulations under the Forumshire Protected Species Act will meet with the Queen's Justice.

As candidate for mayor, I am also looking to cut bureaucratic waste. To start, I plan to deregulate the production and sales of Buckie. This will lower the cost through cutting the Buckie sales tax, and will allow individuals to produce their own Buckie to the potency that they see fit.

The safety of Forumshire is of the utmost importance to me. The Troll-Guard will be doubled and the borders will receive additional supplies and troops to prevent any undesirable, unrespectable characters from tainting our home.

Together. Stronger. Forever.

The Future Is Bright

So what you're saying in essence is you plan to get rid of troublemakers, including the biggest of them all, Eldorion... I had promised my vote to Mirabella but I admit I'm now rethinking that pledge, Bungo.  Nod

I made no such promise, and will take no part in your proxy war against your fellow moderator. Even the Banks' clan is not immune to the Queen's Justice if they step out of line. Suspect
