American music was in a slump from the 90's into the early part of the millenium, but seems to have recovered.  I'm tempted to include the 80's in the slump but it was nothing compared to the drek that followed.

yep, just wading through a youtube video of best songs from the 90's.  Most are forgettable.  Only memorable ones are
• Breakfast at Tiffany's
• Riddance (at least we had the time of our life)
• All Star
• That don't impress me much
• Bitter Sweet Symphony
• Everything I do
• High
• Stop Crying your heart out
• Smells like Teen Spirit

Out of about 50 of the "best songs of the 90's", only about 20% are still being played today.  I suspect from the 80's it would be about 50%, from the 70's about 90%.  Largely a wasted decade, lasted until when, about 2006?

The '90s was probably the most fruitful period in the history of hip hop.  It also saw the growth of grunge and alternative rock which, while I'm not the biggest fan of them, produced some memorable bands. I'll concede that the '90s was definitely a down decade for rock music, but at least it didn't have hair metal. Razz

on reflection I think the 80s were the best for UK music, specially the Mancunians that pretty much set the place on fire like The Smiths, New Order, The Stone Roses, Oasis, James, 808 State, The Fall, Happy Mondays. and generally in the UK, the post punks, the New Romantics, Gothic, Indie, and Acid House. It was an incredibly fruitful time.

'FIRE chiefs warned of an alarming rise in bizarre 999 calls today after a man got his willy stuck in a TOASTER.
The Brigade has started tweeting some of its weirdest incidents.
One tweet said: "Top tip from us today: don’t put your penis in a toaster." - The Sun

Surely he didnt have to call the fire brigade? Couldnt he just have waited till it popped up?! Very Happy

When I was in hospital having my 1st daughter, (MANY yrs ago) A man was brought in with his todger still stuck in the tubing of a vaccum cleaner. Word was, he had cleaner going with said todger in tube but, his dick swelled up & half a ball got lodged with it also ? I mean ! honestly ! anyway, all the nurses were having a right giggle over it ! took my mind off MY impending pain !

Was it a Henry Hoover- they do have a cheeky grin, although technically that would be sticking it up its nose, which if anything is somehow even weirder.

Someone I knew in my early teens once had sex with a hole in a tree. I dont know what the tree thought of it but the squirrel was traumitised and never felt safe in its home again.

Very Happy I expected that. But it really was in this case. Also knew someone who put theirs in a suckling lambs mouth for a dare (and if youve ever bottle fed a lamb youd know thats a risky proposition!)- even more unfortunately their name began with the two letrers m-a. So for the next 10 years he never heard his name said without the start of it made into a sheep noise.

A dare is a dare Figgs! (You might want to bear that in mind after you've had a few buckies on the honeymoon Twisted Evil )

"nice friends U got."

I havent seen either person in over 20 years. And neither were we really friends back then- grow up in a small village its just you know and spend time with everyone, like it or not (including the village idiots).

I think the decade or so of ridicule, shame and being known as a sheep shagger probably was punishment enough.
