Someone mentioned Quinto and Pine as not being as good as the original actors. While I don't disagree, I think the most miscast is Simon Pegg. I think his Scotty is awful!

Chekov is ok.... what happened to Sulu? Did I just completely miss him or was he not there at all?

I think Simon Pegg is awesome, can't say anything about his scottish (i frankly dunno why he has to talk scottish and be called scotty..) anywas, Chekov is amazingly adorable and i love him! he's just a little hero Smile

Sulu is there.. i can't believe you missed him, he's acting captain at some point... srsly?

well to be fair no one could take the place of Shatner and Nimoy, its like watching Ryan Seacrest trying to play at being Han Solo. I mean who could match the majesty and magnetism of the originals? I think Pine and Quinto do a fine job considering.

Ahh yes Norcy. I remember him giving the angry speech.

I thought the Scotty character was changed as the comic relief character. Scotty originally wasn't like that. He was the old school muscle. I just didn't like the character too much and thought Simon Pegg wasn't of the Scotty mould.

Figgy - I thought they did a fine job but, unfortunately, are always going to be compared to the originals since they aren't even playing much of a different spin on the characters.

Checkov always seems a little incompetent to me. In the first film he spent most of his time panicking at the helm and the second panicking in the engine room. If there is a third outing I hope he is much more like the original.

I don't think Chekov is incompetent, i mean he's put into panicking situations and because he is smart and competent, realises that a bit of panicking isn't so out of place. i think he's great, remember he was all like "I CAN DO ZAT! I CAN DO ZAT!" in the first one. incompetent my ass. (though i haven't seen any of the originals)

my only concert about Simon Pegg was that he looked sick. i mean, he was like so fit and thing, he looked a bit sick.. idk.

plus Chekov is supposed to be a teenager just Learning the job, so he cant be the super cool Chekov he is in the originals, this way we see him growing more experienced and Learning on the job. Simon Pegg needs more gravitas to really pull it off, Scotty was the comforting father figure in the tv show, i hope they dont have Pegg just there for laughs and make him more serious, I mean looking after a nuclear reactor is pretty damn a serious job unless you are Homer Simpson

yepp, but i think simpon plays a cool character,and by that i mean he seems calm and to know what his job is

also, i think because he has this funny look on things and makes "jokes" and such, it's shows how confident he is. well, he doesn't make jokes, but he is a funny person, and i don't think you can be funny and have a light tone if you don't know what you're doing, and he does and he is remember shit-smart.

That's what I mean Figgy. He was like an old school, middle ranking person. Always had the air of authority by was always right in there with his men when the going got tough.

The new Scotty seems a very different sort of character.

Also agree re Checkov. Maybe in the next installment he will be a more mature.

I looked at the interview with sulu and scotty. Dont agree about the 'channelling' of the character thing. I could never imagine Simon peggs character standing doing the scene at the space station where the klingons are insulting everyone and then insult the enterprise. I lie, I could but I would be expecting the klingons to give him a pasting following some childish comments on peggs behalf.
