{{ I someohow missed that Cooper vid Chris- my Dad was a massive Tommy Cooper fan so I grew up watching his stuff, thre was just something about the guy, he could have an audience (and a young me) in fit sof laughter before hehad even done anything. An act honed toperfection.

Talking of which heres a bit of Al Murray, a lot of people get his Pub Landlord character wrong, thinking its meant to be taken at face value rather than the satire of Brithishness it is. But this clip is one of those where the Oxford graduate with a degree in history behind the character comes through into the act. }}

Always found Russ Abbot funny.

Never commented on Al Murray, it would be amazing if he didn't have a degree in history.

My all time favourite comedian is George Carlin.

Looking at those Gaffigan vids I think I've found him funnier in interviews than in his stand up routine. Quite a bit less obvious in the interviews.

I think Bill Cosby is an all time great. I know we're not supposed to like him anymore because he drugged women, but I'm with Seinfeld: if you look at his work alone, it's clear he's one of the best story tellers ever, and did it all very clean.

Sort of like listening to music by Gesualdo, who may or may not have been a murderer but brought chromaticism to Renaissance music in a way that that wasn't heard again until the romantic era. I'll still listen to it.

Am I allowed to say I like Dave Chappelle?

If you can say you like JK Rowling then you can say you like Chapelle. Helps if you're over the age of 35.

Figgy had mentioned liking George Carlin.  Here's an early version: still clearly Carlin, but he seems a bit...repressed.  Makes me a little sad, but glad he found his full voice in the 70's.
