Yeah, nice outside. Like it was back in London when we left.
I am waving in the general direction of the city halfy... expect you can see out of your window if you look hard enough.

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
My window does happen to face that direction, but I need to be about 50 feet higher to see over the college buildings: after that it's a straight shot to the airport since I'm near the top of a ridge.
If you're seated on the left side of the plane you can wave as you go by. Top third of Manhattan.

That's definitely a picture that needs no caption.

Chicago! You were probably glad to be done driving by then, though I suppose it was a nice drive around the lakes.
I've always wanted to go to the Frontera Grill in Chicago, headed by a linguistic anthropologist turned chef. Highly awarded, has his own TV series about mexican food. Frontera does classic mexican, Topolobamba next door does new wave mexican.

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
Was a good 5 hour drive but we took a break. Long drive coming up, Chicago -> Nashville. We have some breaks planned along the way though and not until Saturday.
Re: Holidays and absences [3]
7 hours. With two drivers that's manageable. I'd think the drive from Niagara was worse.

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
Halfy - Niagara to Chicago was less than 5 hours so not bad. Didn't see much of the lake but did get a night time view of the Cleveland skyline which was cool.
Petty - that is why we like to mix it up. Lights of the big cities are always great but also like to get the lights of the night sky in too, which we will do later on.

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
I hope nashville is to your liking. Are you stopping by the Bluebird cafe? Grand Ole Opry tour?

Hi Malick! I think currently Lance is doing the best of all of us, hopefully. No post as yet after his long drive to Nashville.

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
We made it but didn't get in until late.
Stopped at the Indianapolis Speedway and did a little tour and then in Louisville for some food.
Going to the country music museum later and then will see where things take us.
Broadway was very busy last night, as you would expect for a Satuday, so will see what we can find later that doesn't involve queueing for 2 hours or being a sardine.
We had some live music at our hotel and there were some side streets that were a little more subdued. Very much felt old yesterday but also have a cold and have injured my back a bit so that doesn't help.
Anyway, pick from on the racing track yesterday...

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
Now in Memphis. Stopped by Sun Studios on the way in and went to Beale Street about 4pm... not a very nice place during the day.
Probably doesn't help we are here Monday and Tuesday but hoping there is a bit more going on this evening, not that we will be up late.
Graceland tomorrow. Already been a bit surreal being in studios that people like Elvis, Johnny Cash, BB King and some other icons have recorded in! Can definitely feel the history in those places!!!
I may have also stumbled across the Gibson guitars HQ and may have acquired something that I wasn't expecting to!!!

I'm sure more will be going on at night, though you are right about monday/tuesday.
