Though I don't buy the idea that a dog everyone is happily fondling face to face is not a trojan horse for transmission.

Over here, sadly some people are so paranoid, that they have given up their pets to animal shelters. I can only imagine how distressing if not heart breaking for the dog that is Id never give my dog up, not ever !

It makes no sense, unless your dog is basically a neighborhood dog, as all dogs (and cats) should be. But then all you do is keep'em inside, if no fenced yard on a leash if outside. The dog won't be happy, but they are no worse off than you are.

In the above video somebody brought a kangaroo to Florida.  He was planning on working out the proper licensing (ask for forgiveness later type of approach) but the kangaroo escaped before he could figure out how to register it.  The neighbors called the police.

So you have 4 Florida policeman standing around a kangaroo trying to figure out what the hell to do.  They eventually get a lassoo around the neck, then bundle the thing into the back of a squad car and eventually lock it up in jail.  The owner did in fact call in and fessed up as soon as he got home and discovered it missing, but we don't have details yet on how this is playing out legally.  (or maybe we do half a day later; I'll have to look it up).

Well, if you see a kangaroo hopping through your neighborhood, I don't think you'd assume it's some woodland creature that should be left alone.

The National Zoo is beautifully landscaped and like all smithsonian institutions it's free.

I saw Pandas at the Beijing zoo - they had given them a playground slide and the pandas were using it, attracting a crowd as you might expect.  They're very playful, and the Chinese love'em.  Did you know that no pandas can be "owned" by a zoo?  They are all the property of china, even the cubs they have. If I were Chinese I wouldn't let go my claim of them either.

I didnt know that Halfy, a bit like Swans & our Queen, she owns all the swans in the uk tho if she actually keeps up with it Id be surprised. you cant help but love Pandas They really are the most ditzy & playful bears
