I should have said Salvoy, not Salzburg. the Salvoy conferences occur every 3 years and are dedicated to fundamental problems of the day. The one shown is the 1927 conference on electrons and photons. It was largely a philosophical battle between whether physics should follow realistic principles (Einstein) or whatever would fit the observations (the Bohr school).
