I wasn't at all sure about that, until I saw it was directed by Guy Ritchie. Now I'll at least give it a chance.

Re: Future releases [2]
Don't wanna get too hyped because POTC 4 was really bad but the Super Bowl spot for Dead Men Tell No Tales actually looks promising. Hopefully there really will be sea battles in this one and it's not a fake-out like last time.
Re: Future releases [2]
But no sign of Elizabeth!
And I'm not sure how I feel about all manner of dead creatures returning from their graves. A similar thing was done cheekily and well enough in Curse of the Black Pearl with the cursed crew of undead. But I've never been a fan of big trump-card gimmicks like the rotating-cannons from the Flying Dutchman or the destructive power of Blackbeard's whole ship-deal thing from the fourth film or this new "Ship-crusher" thing that we see in this trailer.
I know it's part of the cheesy appeal of the series, but what if these new sprinting-over-water, ship-crushing undead pirates are the main draw of this new film? What if the original cast members hands out more catch-phrases than meaningful dialogue like in At World's End?
I mean look at where we've come from now: It used to be that no ship can match the Interceptor for speed, except of course for the Black Pearl. But then Blackbeard's stupid bottle thing messed with that or something. And now the fastest thing on the water are sprinting undead!

Re: Future releases [2]
Did the game developers even ask Ridley Scott for permission before starting development??

Um....that wasn't quite right, was it?
On another note, I wonder if images can be copyrighted? That seems very PJ derivative.

Re: Future releases [2]
Yeah I saw it announced that a sequel to the original disgrace was coming out. Apparently the game-play is top-notch. It's just the lore that resembles a moldy boot overflowing with cow pies.

It's an officially licensed game with the rights to draw on both the books (none of the posthumously published ones though) and the PJ movies. The rights to make games based on book-exclusive lore and the rights to make games based on movie-specific intellectual property are two separate legal things. Both have been held by Warner Bros' gaming division (which is publishing Shadow of War) since 2009.

Re: Future releases [2]
I just watched it. Veeery derivative. Shot-for-shot in some cases. And now the wraiths have multi-classed as Death-eaters?
When on (Middle-)earth is all this supposed to be taking place? And in the video game's "lore" Celebrimbor is supposed to have wrested the One Ring from Sauron in the 2nd Age??
What is going on!! A "good" wraith? A balrog serving Sauron? If this is during the War of the Ring at the end of the Third Age, this would be the first time since the War of Wrath in... (looked it up) 545-587 F.A. that a balrog went openly to battle. I mean, both Sauron and the balrogs are maiar, so it's not as though his superiority of command can immediately be assumed.
Gothmog, for example, was at least equal rank with Sauron when they both served Morgoth.
Oh and hey, black people in Gondor. In-ter-est-ing.
