Yeah, I kind of want one too now.

Talking about Dire Wolfs, this thing from the books always had me wondering.
- Book 3, but the equivalent scenes have been covered in the series. :
- When.. Greywind acts aggressively towards one of the Westerlings, Catelyn tells Robb to send that person away based on Greywinds reaction. But when Greywind almost attacks the Freys when they reach the Twins for the Wedding and almost refuses to cross the bridge to the castle they both ignore him.
That was one thing that didn't make much sense to me.

Well Martin himself acknowledges that he was influenced by Tolkien and clearly holds him in high regard.

- It makes sense. That one Westerling was a nobody, little is lost by dismissing him. They couldn't afford to lose the support of the Freys - the bridge at the Twins was absolutely crucial to their plans. People routinely ignore well meaning advice that goes against their plans.

Yeah, I find his opinions on Tolkien pretty interesting. He does credit the effect the deaths of Gandalf and Boromir in the the Lord of the Rings on him while reading it as a child as an inspiration on how he handles killing of characters in his own books. Though he likes to remark that if he had writen it Gandalf would have remained dead.

Though I did feel Catelins plea for Robb to send away the Westerling was a little more forcefull than that implies. To the degree of "I beg of you, send this man away." I find it a bit odd that she, after having been so forcefull on the issue, then would ignore Greywinds reaction to the Freys to the degree she does.
Greywind was right about the Westerlings too of course, as they were conspiering with Tywin.
Interestingly the one Westerling who is said to have been truly loyal to Rob, Jeynes brother Raynald, dies at the Twins protecting Greywind from the Freys.

Anyone else seen the Oathkeeper episode yet? There was a major reveal there even for book readers.

- I liked the episode as a whole.
I did find the Krasters keep part became a little too "lets take all these plot lines and make a knot" like though.
And that final scene jumps straight ahead of anything that's been revealed in the books so far.
And that's with two and a quarter books of story left to tell.
So a bit of enjoyment for those who might feel book readers come across a little too much like know it alls perhaps.

- I think they may be doing it to lessen the boredom of watching Bran and his friends wander around for the next 5 episodes. Bran's storyline is starting to get a wee bit boring, so this way it ties the brothers (Bran and Jon) together in a more interesting way. I also wonder whats happeneing to his younger Brother and the Wildling girl. Another thing they have changed is Arya and The Hound? didnt he get mortally wounded at the Inn in the book? and Arya Leaves him and finds herself in Braavos. So I am wondering if Hound will stay on in The Eerye when Arya goes off to Braavos. I think thats what he wants to do, find a new home and job. It would also give him the possibility of getting Revenge on Mountain.

- Yeah, you're probably right. It just seemed a bit contrived that they would happen to camp just within earshot of Krastas Keep to me.
We'll have to see in future episodes if they actually meet up, I guess. George seem to like his near misses in the books at least.
The thing is though in the books Jon is completely unaware that Bran and Rickon is alive, as Sam promised he would tell noone and didn't even tell Jon. That he knows will have an impact on some future events.
The fight at the inn happened a lot later in the books. So what will happen to the Hound and Arya in the end is quite open now, I guess. Though Arya will presumably still end up in Braavos. The Hounds fate seems more open now.
And I really look forward to seeing Rickon again too. With Bran going off north he is after all the heir to Winterfell.
But I don't know how much you want to know or how much I should tell you about what happens.

watched Oathbreaker episode. I really liked the first 3/4 but when they got to Casters Keep it got a bit grotesquerie and it put me off. I think they over did it a bit. Loved the Jaime/Brienne bit.

I did rather well on avoiding spoilers up until series 4, but I had managed to spoil two big things for me with series 4 before I even started the books. What rather impressed me was Norc avoiding spoilers for the RW for what.. 10 months or something.
