no it's not. it is for a human with weak ass arms, but not for an elf.thegooddoctor wrote:Norc wrote:
well, he doesn't go under his torso, but ok. valid point.
ha! yes, you're right. it's just the every time i try to imagine how it happened, i get it all wrong because, you know, it's physically impossible.
Re: Tell Me Why You Liked The LOTR Movies
Elves are not super-strong.

Well, first he would knock over Gimli, no matter how far back he (Gimli) moved on the saddle.

And if he's that agile, he might as well have jumped on the horse from the other side.

Given he is static the forward momentum of a charging horse means as soon as he grabbed it like that he would smacked square in the face by its chest and trampled to death.

Re: Tell Me Why You Liked The LOTR Movies
I must admit even 10 years ago that was crap cgi. But looking at it now its almost heartwarmingly crap, its crap that I can have a giggle over, and I do think Bloom was a cool Legolas, some of his quieter scenes are visually stunning.

Re: Tell Me Why You Liked The LOTR Movies
Shame he didn't have more quiet scenes and less bloody awful stupid ones- Id trade all his RotK stunts just to have the scene where he and Gimli enter Minas Tirith together for the first time and discuss the fate of Men.
Sadly by that point in PJ's Legolamb is a superbeing and Gimli a joke so I dont suppose it fits the characters any longer

Dont agree about Gimli being a joke, he wasnt. He was humorous but thats different to being a joke.

Re: Tell Me Why You Liked The LOTR Movies
He is used constantly for comic relief- none of his serious scenes remain. Its either hopping to look over walls, falling over, falling off a horse, burping, tiptoeing humourously over bones on the Paths of Dead (when in the book he was constantly on the verge of outright terror)- I dont recognise the book character in him at all- but on the plus side he looks like a Tolkien dwarf which is more can be said for TH.

I agree.
This is the stunt someone on TORN said reminded him/her of the 'leap of Beren' in The Silmarillion. The two are vastly different in my opinion, outside of being 'someone jumping on a moving horse' of course.

It looked cool, if he had just taken a few running steps first it would have fixed the physics and looked even cooler. I don't fault them so much for this first Leggy moment, which was somewhat mild...but after that they were totally going for fan reaction.
