Re: Just...................whatever [3]
Probably not so annoying if its part of the accent, but those sound like affections, that its put on and not natural to the accent or dialect.
I cant say in the few bits of Fjordian I have heard you speak from vids you've posted that I noticed it in your accent.
(But then Scots is quite guttural too, especially west coast Scots)

Re: Just...................whatever [3]
I haven't noticed that in the northern dialects, Norc. That article must be wrong

Re: Just...................whatever [3]
The last thing anyone should be is self concious of their dialect.
And I think Petty pegged it in one. It's when it's used affected as a fashionable tone to use that it's annoying. As part of a general dialect I don't think you should worry about it at all.
And that is, as Ringo says, if it's even there at all.
Och aye.

(But 'och' is more Highland, these parts it more 'ach'. As in the favourite phrase of dismissal, 'Ach! Away wi yi.' 'Aye' however is country wide!)

Re: Just...................whatever [3]
i am at school now, not concious about the dialect, more the way i speak, but omg the fry is everywhere!
Re: Just...................whatever [3]
I hate that weak, insipid, put on, way of speaking. Its a vulgar Americanised habit, & all I feel like doing if anyone speaks to me like that is, grab them by the collar & shake the be-jesus out of them. Your not on deaths door, open yer gob & speak properly ! Ive also noticed these people not only cant be bothered to open their mouths enough but, hardly open their eyes ! Oh dear, have I disturbed you from a deep hibernation ??

Do you use a different voice when you talk to Leopoldo?
BTW - where is Figgy?

Finally giving my barrel a right good scrubbing hopefully. (Might take her awhile, assuming she gets back out, that bog monster can be a handful)

Re: Just...................whatever [3]
Benny Hill is quintessential low brow humor regardless of country.
But one of the greatest theme songs ever.

Re: Just...................whatever [3]
Wait a minute, how did my Benny Hill comment get here? I was reading Figgy's remarks on Benny Hill comedy, now I come back and find the middle of a vocal fry discussion.
Anyway Norc, you sound quite cultured to my ears, which since it happens when talking to your dog must mean it's your most natural voice. (Of course given the dregs of Americanizations these days perhaps anything else will sound cultured.)

Oh, Benny hill on the first page of the thread. Mystery solved...I didn't jump to the end and since I missed the beginning it looked new.

That's certainly a "Just...................whatever" moment, Halfwise.

Ah, so it's perhaps more sociolectic. That's quite interesting.
So everyone speaks it at your school? And you're the only one who has noticed?
Someone should write a thriller out of this.

Re: Just...................whatever [3]
i think it's the dialect although it sounds even worse in american
Re: Just...................whatever [3]
Does your parents do it too? That would tell you if it's a generational thing or not.
Unless you've influenced them to pick up that way of speaking too, that is. But finding a completely uninfluenced control group would be rather dificult, I guess.

Re: Just...................whatever [3]
to be clear, i don't sound like the american idjits... but the fry thing is more common in the way that my dialect is kinda monotone.. if that makes sense idk...

This is a bit fun. The game just lumps you in an arbitrary location in Google Street View and you have to figure out where you are.

(kinda another program, but mainly the same)
edit: i read brazil on a poster and my guess was 871.201km away
