Laughing  but Kili actually looks more like my idea of what Faramir should have looked like, although I imagine faramir a bit older and grimmer, but definately dark daired like in the book.

Faramir should be an oddly complimentary mix of stern maturity and sensitivity. Though I'm not too found of what David Wenham was given to work with (forcing him to be ever so slightly immature in the presence of his father and brother) I thought he managed to bring more gravitas to the role than the scriptwriters gave him. There were flashes of the true Faramir as opposed to Filmamir.

I thought Wenham did a very good job with what he was given- and I thought his performance was only a bit shaky at the start when he was having to combine in his head the contradictory PJ invented Filmamir with the book Faramir. I never thought he looked comfortable in his performance during those scenes and had the air of an actor just doing what he is told.
I wasnt too bothered about his physicality not quite matching the book description- getting the character right is more important (not that PJ did that, but the point stands)- and he did look enough like Bean's Boromir to pass as a sibling.

yes they look like brothers, but Wenham was just Boromir lite instead of a greatly different character. Faramir was more akin to Aragorn, therefore i would have preferred him to look like Aragorn in his Ranger mode.

I keep Filmamir and Faramir separate in my mind, just because the book version is so much more complex and inherently decent than the one we're shown in the film. That being said, I still like Filmamir in ROTK, but Faramir is wayyyyyy more attractive Wink

Its a sad state of affairs when Disney dwarves look more like Tolkien ones than the ones in TH! Mad
