"Anyway bloody PJ has left me one Bilbo reaction shot short. All I need is one shot of Bilbo to put inbetween Thorin saying "so this is the hobbit." and "He looks more like a grocer than a burglar" - Petty

Isn't it possible to just cut the whole scene after Thorin says "So, this is the hobbit.." and let it fade out? Or do you want to keep the grocer line?

Can't you just have the line "so this is the hobbit." and "He looks more like a grocer than a burglar" and then cut to shot of Bilbo looking crestfallen then end.

I was hoping to keep the grocer line Ringdrotten- if possible.

Ally that is precisely the problem- the 'so this is the hobbit' line- is followed by Thorin walking right round Bilbo talking about using a sword and ends back where he started, which is when he delivers the grocer bit of the line.
But if I splice the first bit straight into the second its a weird awkward cut, as the camera shot for the grocer line is almost, but not quite in the same place as the hobbit line- so it just sort of jumps- I need a reaction shot of Bilbo to put into that scene between the two lines to break up having two similar but not quite the same shots in a row, if you follow.

On the plus side I showed the latest edit to a friend who had just seen the film version and not enjoyed it very much- after watching the purist edit he said "why the hell didn't they put that version in the cinema?"
The answer to which of course is 'the bastards never asked me.' Mad

make your own reaction shot. put on a curly wig and a waistkit and film yourself looking shocked. thatll work. or if not take a shot from a trailer/spot or summat. use your loaf boy!

Mad Cant just nick a random shot Mrs Figg- there's the sound to consider, then the location, lighting, differences in picture quality, format- I did try nicking half a shot as Thorin walks round Bilbo- but it was way to short, so then I tried it slowed down, but it looked to weird (sometimes you can get away with slowing stuff, but not this time)
so not that I haven't tried to use my loaf, more like Ive ran out of bread.

Just begun uploading the latest cut of TH. Should be up in a few hours.
Not without caveats- thanks to the really annoying way it was encoded there are some moments when the synching is out by a bit here and there- bit weirder however whilst the sound stays synched whilst you watch if you try to skip ahead it will go out of synch, further ahead you jump further out it will be- no idea why. You just have to watch it start to finished without skipping. But then without all the horrible Pj stuff you probably wont have to skip ahead. Very Happy

Quality wise its not as good as dvd but a hell of a lot better than the cam one its replacing- as always your thoughts and opinions are very welcome.

To upload yes, especially if say I maybe have a small nifter of buckie and then say wander outside and forget all about it. Embarassed
Uploading has now resumed.
Downloading should be relatively painless as its less than 800 meg- better quality yet smaller file size than the cam one- go figure.

Are you getting a non exploding pc after the 18th?

I think you will find TH much more to your tastes but I am most curious, you being a self confessed fan of PJ's LotR's, as to what you make of the purist cuts of those.

Of course you could always do what Dave did- buy a rather large memory stick, pop it in the post to me and I just put everything on that.
But needs to be 40gig or more of mem stick!

That depends -computer certainly- tv depends if it has a usb port and then you'd need to find out which formats it can play- although xvidHD is usual.

And 40gig plus simply means you will have to shell out a bit for it- at least £20-30 I'd reckon.

if you theoretically have this big stick, (and I presume its not made out of wood), does it mean my computer wont have problems showing the film?
you will have to exqueeze me, my knowledge of computering is pathetic. does it mean the film can be large, but the stick takes the brunt of the hard work? kinda. Embarassed oh gawd this is going to haunt me.
