first off thanks to Amarie and Orwell for defending me, and yes Orwell you do seem to 'get me' pretty accurately cheers Very Happy
firstly then, I respect and love women I dont care if they are prozzies strippers or astronauts, adults can do what the heck they like as long as its a free and thought through choice, and not because of coercion or because some pimp tells em to.
I am truly afraid and worried for Young girls, and because it makes me mad I use strong Language like bimbo or slapper not because I think they are dumb but because either social pressure or naivity has left them open to being disrespected and abused. Young minds soak up information around them, and if that information is highly sexualized they will get some messages from the media tv and music videos that to get male attention they must girate their butts like Beyonce does. all girls want to attract boys and thats normal what isnt normal are the extreme role models you see today, what does it say about society when on MTV the heros are slaggy boozers on Geordie and Jersey Shore? when a Kardashian is the woman envied?
I was lucky enough to have an innocent old fashioned childhood, sex was absent thank god, on tv before 9pm it was censored, magazines for girls and women were aspirational ones like Cosmo or girls magazines which were full of horse-riding tips and how to talk to boys, nowadays its Game of Thrones style rudery and girls of 13 in lipgloss and heels, some Young girls heros are Jodie Marsh and Jordan, my heros were Chrissie Hynde and Vivien Westwood, non of my female heros relied on big boobs nor did they strip for lads mags. I am not in any way a prude and I dont think I am judgemental, but sometimes I feel women are doing themselves a great disservice, like we are regressing instead of going healthily forward, the use of sex to sell things and gain fame at a Young age seems mistaken, to sexualize girls before they are ready emotionally seems cruel and confusing for them, I feel protective and I suppose maternal, I want to slap some stars and say dont pander to pressures, dont sell out, think before you girate your arse on videos because girls are watching and Learning the only way for sucess is acting like a bimbo, looking like Rhiannah and getting beaten up by a man who doesnt value you is not the way to go. every day women are stalked abused and killed, society has obviously put little value on our lives, we are devalued and objectified, women have a duty to protect each other and if calling someone a bimbo makes some girl think twice before she wants to become the next Jordan its worth it.
I LOVE you! cheers

Well put, Mrs Figg.  Girls are being sexualized at a younger age then ever, before they really understand what is going on, and they are seeing it and absorbing it.  Some of us were arguing that society has changed so that women are no longer judged as sex objects so they should be able to do as they please. But now I think you are right that the deeper undercurrents are still there, and even if they are weaker than before (enough to bounce off a woman in her prime) they are reaching girls at a younger age, and hence may still be doing as much damage as before.

I think calling a spade a spade is what I do, its a Northern bluntness thing, not very subtle or ladylike I guess. So if someone is acting like a bimbo or a slapper I am not afraid to say so. It may be construed as looking down on someone but its realy just a kind of friendly wakeup call, like calling Petty a prat Very Happy

I was surprised and hurt by Eldos off the cuff comment, it seemed unjust and unfair, as my intentions were quite the opposite, its irritating to be misrepresented. Amarie had every right to get mad and its not fair to call what she said patronizing, she was totally respectful and fair in her comments. We all cock things up from time to time, even, (rarely), Eldo, I do it all the time but it never stops me. Embarassed

I am mad at the way society in general is going, and lets face it there are air headed bimbos out there who get themselves into stupid situations. If you go into a bar wearing a skirt that shows your thong and arse crack what does it say about your priorities in life? I am interested in why this is happening and if there is any hope of getting through to people before its too late.

I was about to say thank you for sticking up for me, but now I think I perhaps should choose a different wording. Laughing

I do think we'd make one heck of a trio though, seriously! Very Happy

Ringo's post was sobering. If what I am saying sounds that horrific to someone then I clearly should try to find where things went wrong, and try to explain or take a bit of self-criticism.

If a quote causes offence, then it is an offensive quote regardless of the intention. But I do believe Eldo and I were about to shake hands and make peace.

{{{And of course Ringo sides with Eldo! Haven't you read the stories?! Jeez! Rolling Eyes}}}

A fascinating question. There seems to be a sexuality pendulum that swings back and forth every century or so, from the puritan and Victorian extremes on one side to the hedonistic extremes on the other, and we seem to be swinging left right now. Yes, the media is pushing it, but internet access and the normalization of porn is maybe even a bigger factor. Every curious kid can now easily find video of things I could never even have imagined when I was trying to figure out what was different about girls. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

But unfortunately when the pendulum has swung toward the puritan side, it's usually been male dominated, like we see in the fundamentalist Christian and Islamist groups where men treat women's chastity as their personal property. There's no good in that. Evil or Very Mad

So the question is, can we find a new balance that can value sexual restraint without sexual repression? I really don't know.....

In theory a thong up the arse of a pretty young thing should arouse me. The actuality doesn't. I'm not sure it actually arouses young men, just tells them (rightly or wrongly) that the pretty young thing is up for it when they're finished having a drink with their mates and they want an empty out with an available girl. Maybe she'll even consent, but does it matter if they don't? They dressed like they were up for it. Yes, they have the right not to be sexually assaulted, but a lot of guys will waive this right on their behalf.

Those who consent, well, good luck to them, I guess. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. But I think it's shallow behaviour and deep down not want girls and most (thoughtful) guys really want.

Give me courting every time. Deep down, I suspect all humans want love, trust and interpersonal security. Sex under any other circumstances is as unsatisfying as drinking too much Coca Cola, I reckon. And I'll go as far as to opine that sex under any other circumstances devalues women more than it devalues men in our current societal 'Think'.

We want more men to be more respectful of themselves, not women to be less respectful of themselves.

I think I'm meandering now...

I'm planning to bond more closely with Amarie and Mrs Figg, but only in a sexy way, not a sexualized way. Very Happy

I think I said earlier on this thread that more knowledge at an earlier age may cancel out the more sexualization. It's okay if everyone totally understands what's going on so has control of the situation, but I'm not convinced everything is neatly balanced out in a 13 year old. And younger people are being bombarded with stuff they can't possibly understand.

I guess we'll just wait and see how Norc turns out. Oh, she already has...

Norc is a lost cause, she is what she is and we'll just have to get used to it, but I don't mean that in a patronizing way.

{{{Halfy: I am not a vindictive man, but I plan to make Ringo pay for saying I was patronizing! Mad }}}
