The piano music definitely says 7/4.

Not that it makes much difference really, just beats on the quarter note instead of the 8th. I counted it as 7/8 (1234567) rather than 8th (1&2&3&4&5&6&7) whether I should have or not.

Uploaded my rough attempt at the first few sections in to Petty's skydrive in the 'for Norc' folder. Bear in mind this was my guitar straight in to my computer and me not really taking any care over mistakes etc. Sounds very rough but then it wasn't going to sound good just yet.

well that's shait, look at the pdf! also counging (1&2&3&4&5&6&7) or whatever it's easier.

Just had a listen Lance and liking what your doing.
But I got a constant popping noise over it when I played it back and when I had a look at it in Audacity, well you can see it here- the vertcal lines are the popping noise-

i clicked spmething and now i can't download anything from the folder, what do i do?

Do you know what you clicked? Well you havent deleted the file or anything. Just try shutting down the window and going back in again.
If you right click on the file you want you should get a drop down window with a download option.

did all of the above, but there was this window that came up and it said the webside needed permission to download thing to my computer, the usual svada, and because i am usually really careful and i've never had that message pop up, i automatically clicked "not allow" and omfg... what do i do now?

You have editing permissions- I think you just banned yourself from downloading.

forget it, it magically worked again.

I will delete your current profil on it and resend a new link and that should sort it. But youll need to go out of it so I can delete you!

ok. i've listen to it.It sounds really awesome, but, you're in the wrong key, after the intro (which is perfect) when you go lighter, not too sure what's going on there, but i'll take a look at the piano music.. the tap nose is nice, cus it's a metronom, but in the end with the melody, yuo're a bit off beat, try not to play that one note twice, it'll help.

There a key change Lance makes about 15, 16 seconds mark thats not right but hey, for a first go recording in a new song Id say damn good start.

or you're not off key, cus it's sounds great, but i am not sure, it's a bit off to me... i think i'de play a b there somewhere. (bminor i think)

Yeah there are no bum notes, just wrong key after the intro sequence -which sounded about spot on and comes back together by the end. Just the middle section I think sounded off to me, not bad off just different off.

but i'll get back to this tomorrow, g'night

Hi all. Sorry... went to bed before your deluge of replies.

Petty - yes I can turn off the click track. I just left it in there so people could hear the time signature and bpm I was using. Re the key... the notes I used to lay down the track were the same ones on the piano track and then overlayed harmonies from the same scales. Key should be right but as was kinda doing on the fly there will some bum and unaligned notes in there.

Nora - yes.. I know I went out of time on some sections and within some tracks. My back was hurting and was trying to get it done so you guys could hear it and maybe get some ideas going.

That guitar is what I would use for some completely different music and will sound a bit rubbish for this. I will get my 12 string acoustic sorted out for and chord work as that sounds nice and thick and warm.

i didn't critizise you, i was just giving you feedback i do understand this was done in a hurry and so, but i am pretty sure you're playing major and not minors (if that makes any sense, i dunno how it is in english)

the click track was good, now i know how fast i'de have to go

i like the guitar you used, why do acoustic?

I can use the same guitar if everyone prefers it. It is designed for shredding on (thin neck, strings close to fretboard, pickups give lots of detail in high frequencies to make it sound more aggressive etc).

Need to get my other one sorted out anyway so can put a track down with that too and people can decide what they like.

And don't worry... wasn't meaning to be defensive... just pointing out that some bits may sound wrong because they were wrong. When it comes to laying down tracks properly I will take a bit more care over it.
