Music stuff
I just got like a new reverb/echo plug in for my recording program and was playing around with some covers to experiment with it. Nothing very serious, but I though why not share it with you guys.

Love the bear.
I don't know how that song turned out so well, really. It's just me on a first take with the vocals and guitar on the same mike and then I doubled the vocal with a second track.

Re: Music stuff
nice I like it... maybe in the future I can add something here. Not quite as upbeat. I just met and auditioned a lead guitarist this week, gonna see how compatible we are writing together before I make a commitment to working with him.

Re: Music stuff
Thanks. It's a bit repetetive, but I've been listening a bit to electronica lately and the idea of repeating themes interests me. That's not to say it works in that song in that version, but.. I'll see how it turns out if I try to make a proper version at some point.
I'd certainly be interested in hearing if/when you felt like sharing something.

Re: Music stuff
I wrote this song a week or so ago, and have kind of been struggling with making a recording of it for the last couple of days. I'm not sure I'm satisfied with how it turned out yet, but I thought some of you might find it interesting to get a look into the process.
So, here's my demo of the song
And here's my attempt at making a proper recording
I'll try to share it if I get a version I'm properly satisfied with too. Whether that is from continuing working on that one, or starting from scratch. We'll see.

Re: Music stuff
Aw. Thank you.
It's odd when you record sometimes. Sometimes you discover the song you quite liked wasn't quite up to the quality you hoped, and at other times it makes you like it even more. I'm not so sure about my recording of this one yet, but I do quite like the song. Though it is a quite simple one.

Re: Music stuff
Ah, th.. I'm sorry. I'm bad at saying thank you. But that you like it does mean a lot to me.
I'll probably redo some of the vocals. The first line in particular I'm not happy with. Some of it's good though. The last vers for instance.

Re: Music stuff
another band that has formed here is Svale (link to facebook-page), jazz mainly. They do some covers but also originals. Svalbard (link) and this hymn Mitt Hjerte Alltid Vanker enjoy. that's just a taste of all the creative magnificence that is being made here
Re: Music stuff
Also some of the guys here are making a best of album (of the school) which will be released on spotify soon
Re: Music stuff
Listening to a few of the links you posted Norc and I'm enjoying them. I really like "Hedalsskogen" especially. I hope the end of the school year is going well for you guys!

Norc wrote:They're calling themselves a folkjazzrockband
I like them already. I'll try to get around to listening to those.

I need to get around to recording some stuff again. I am never happy with the quality of it though.
Will have a listen to your pieces and let you know my opinion!

Cool. What do you use to record?

Re: Music stuff
Ah, ok. So you straight up use the audiocard of the mac? Any mic in particular you use?
I use a Motu Microbook external audiocard, a SM mc-01 mic and and a very outdated version of cubase. It's not perfect, but it's ok. A fair bit of my limitations as to getting the sound I want comes down to my limited knowledge of how to utilize the potential of the recording program, I think. That and limited experience at recording in general. But I guess doing is a good way of learning.

Re: Music stuff
I did music production at college but it's been a long time since I did anything so can't really remember what most things do.
I don't have a mac, I have a windows laptop which isn't ideal for doing anything creative... but I don't like apple!
The mbox is a good little interface for basic recording in to a computer and pro tools is super good if you know what you are doing... which I don't!
