Forumshire has been rocked by the Rumour that we have ANOTHER new forumer - two in two days! The hard working staff at The Bugle can confirm it's true! Wonderful! Sadly, our offices have to close for "unrelated business reasons" and will have to follow up our SCOOP tomorrow (hopefully).

I only mean to say that all your "adventures" seem to involve that beverage. If I read the threads (and newspapers ) correctly, you are all under suspicion for "Unrespectable Behaviour." And isn't poor Odo doing time in the Lockholes while awaiting his court hearing on what sound fairly serious charges? If I'm wrong, please set me straight. Frankly, I do admit to finding the whole business confusing. (Like I do most of the "business" on this forum ):-Jane

Doesn't Photoshop have an add text feature? I'm pretty sure MS Paint has that. I use GIMP these days though.

(((The mystery of the palantir pictures GB is that they are not photoshopped! Its a render in a 3D landscape program with object models. I just used the avatars as images skins and then did some post work with Gimp to tidy up. The advantage of doing it that way is the images are in the picture so the lighting and everything is the same.)))

I used a 3D landscape generating program called Terragen2- know the opening to ST -the last one where the camera zooms past Remus and down onto Romulus? Thats terragen. It makes landscapes and renders them (and animates if you've a super computer). And you can add objects to the landscape- trees, buildings, rocks and stuff.
I used a wall object, resized it, got a jpg of Odo's avatar and replaced the image for the wall-bricks- with the image of Odo.
Then I rendered it out. The rendering doesn't just draw the objects and the land it does the light and the shadows and the haze in the atmosphere too- all the little things that give a photoshooped pic away usually.
Once it had rendered I took it into Gimp and just used the clone tool to copy the grass and sky over the bits of wall that were showing outside the avatar image and hey presto!
