{{{Moffat makes the Cushing Who films cannon! (Sort of) In his novelisation of Day of the Doctor (spoilers) Moffat adds quite a few bits in extra among them the notion that the Doctor was a huge fan of Peter Cushing and got him the role to play the Doctor based very loosely on his own exploits (Unit weren't very happy but as the information was presented as entertainment and as if just made up they let it go until Cushing started turning up in films after he was dead -nice SW reference there).
Moffat had apparently wanted to have a scene in the Black Archive with Kate explaining it, but the BBC couldn't get the rights to the art work for the film posters to put on the Archive wall- so the scene never made it in till now.}}

{{Interesting piece (actually no its not, one bit is though!) article about Name of the Doctor.

This is the interesting bit, interesting I think because it demonstrates a couple of things. How circumstances outside the writers control force a change of direction and how a character arc has to be altered to compensate.

'Steven Moffat planned that the episode would end with the Doctor admitting that the time rift that represents his life leads directly back to the last day of the Time War, in order to set up the story within “The Day of the Doctor” in which the Eleventh and Tenth Doctors would confront the Ninth (who would at that point have been played by a returning Christopher Eccleston) about his part in destroying Gallifrey. Clara was to have emerged from the rift furiously upset with the Doctor for this act of genocide, and screaming that she knows who he really is. In the event, Eccleston’s decision not to take part forced a rethink, and the introduction of the War Doctor.'

I really like Moffats original idea, not least because the seeds of it were planted previously in the series at various points with the Doctor questioning who Clara is whilst she makes her own discoveries which lead her towards questioning just exactly who and what the Doctor really is and if he is in fact 'good'.
Its an unfortunate coincidence I feel for the character of Clara that the same sort of thing happened in series 8- where the seeded throughout series of the Doctor and Clara and lies was essential to the original ending- it led them to miss having their time together and by the time they find out they lied to one another its too late to do anything about it.
Jenna's decision to stay and the BBC execs desire to keep her on forced Moffat to rewrite the ending of that one to let her continue on- and whilst he did it well enough and I like where it went in series 9 it nevertheless does still undermine somewhat the force of the message regards the lying in series 8.

But all goes to show that just because you are showrunner and head writer, it doesn't mean you can write the story you want. Sometimes life just wont let you!   }}}

Only listened to the first story so far, but as always with BF a solidly entertaining story, I think Liv Chenka and the 8th Doctor rival Jamie and the 2nd Dr as my favourite tardis team

Being trying to list my Doctors in order of personal preference, but found it an impossible task to choose between certain Doctors, so instead I've gone for 4 tiers of 3 best to worst.

-That doesn't necessarily correlate to how well I feel each actor played the role (i.e I'm not a huge fan of the 10th Doctor, but Tennant is a brilliant actor and played he role very well) merely my order of personal preference.

Moffat  -  (Talking about finishing his novelisation of Day of the Doctor) I was incredibly happy with it up until the exact moment I read Russells. (Interrupted by RTD laughing) It arrived and I read it and 'oh that's how you do it. Oh, look its got funny backstory, character, ahh, not seventeen twists a page.'
RTD- And I felt the same. We're not just saying that, we genuinely sent each other the emails and I felt the same way when I read Steven's. Because you've got Gallifrey and Daleks and timey-whimey stuff and mine's set on a council estate and a shop.
Moffat- Yes but with such people Rusell.

Exciting news from Big finish- Michelle Gomez is returning as Missy opposite Alex Kingston as River! (the first appearance of 12th Doctor era elements at Big Finish, Capaldi himself has already been approached about returning for audios, apparently he's keen to do so, but wants a break from the role first) And Eric Roberts is reprising the role of the Master for the first time in the same set (The Master is a character created and owned by the BBC, whereas the rights to Grace and Chang Lee the companions from the 1996 TV Movie reside with Universal or Fox-apparently no-one is entirely sure so the legal confusion and possible cost of licensing the rights means a full TV Movie cast reunion at Big Finish may be a little unlikely unfortunately) , whilst Tom Baker is to return as the 4th Doctor opposite River as well:

I have the first 3 sets (not listened to the 3rd boxset yet though), and even as someone who wasn't particularly fond of River onscreen, I have thoroughly enjoyed her stories at Big Finish (including her 6 episode guest stint in the Doom Coalition series with Paul McGann's 8th Doctor) nice mix of wacky high concept stories and geeky fan service, Kingston takes a few episodes to get into the swing of audio work but River comes across as a more rounded interesting character in these audios i.m.o.

{{I still haven't got round to the river Song BF yet- out of curiosity though the  character must be getting close to having more BF time as the character than she ever had on TV (even many 'River' episodes she doesn't feature heavily- such as Good Man Goes to War where her total onscreen presence is about 10-15 minutes.)}}}}

Certainly no Talalay standard in there leaping out at me. Guessing Tonderai will have either the opening or finale as he seems the most experienced and the only one not predominantly a soap opera director!
