Re: Music [3]
Scotshobbits require no translation I'm sure.

Re: Music [3]
Medieval Scots with modern music, huh? Curious concept. Probably saw some language and couldn't resist.

Re: Music [3]
I liked the word "mowdiwarp" in place of manatee.

Re: Music [3]
Mowdiwarp for manatee sounded inteso I had a look and a listen. But I the English text said mole, and that made sense cause in Norw.. um Fjordian it's muldvarp or moldvarp.
Also the word fordi is the same in Fjordian.
Oh and hame for home, from Petty's story. It's "haym" not "hám" right? I say heim.

Re: Music [3]
From the proto-Germanic moldo-worpo, literally meaning "earth-thrower". Pretty cute.
Neist and "nest/neste" must be related too. Lots of connections here of course.

Re: Music [3]
Holy crap, Jimi Hendrix on acoustic guitar! First he's doing Delta Blues, and sounds just like the dozen other delta blues guitarists I've heard. Then we have him doing a deltafied version of Hound Dog. Just goes to show you the greats don't arrive fully formed: they work their way through the framework of what came before them.

sometimes the world becomes too much (like after watching RoP 3) and you feel the need to be lulled off.

You can start around 5:00 if you don't want to listen to the whole thing. Elephant doesn't do much until then.

Re: Music [3]
I had mentioned in my post to Lance that you'd see the best street musicians along Royal Street in New Orleans. I posted an old clarinet player from there a while back, here's another band. I've realized I actually saw this band in a bar along Frenchman street before (and posted a video: the trumpet player sings), but they seem to all rotate off and on the street - the musicians in that town just can't stop. Look how young they are! I love that.

She's got one of those wacky sideways embouchres. How do instructors allow that?

Chris keeps posting these insufferably talented Russian tykes, and though I can't dredge up an American toddler to match, this kid will have to do.
