Maybe he is attached to protecting Queen Tin whilst she is visiting England from Valinor.

It's not backpacking, it's just state park camping. More of an excuse to get the entire extended family together for a couple of days, enjoy the fresh air and outdoors, and get away from the day-to-day stress of work and stuff for a long weekend.

My girlfriend, who is also American, wishes for it to be clear that she agrees with the whole "it's not real camping" criticism. Just for the record.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Mostly I just thought you'd appreciate the random Harry Potter reference and someone inferring you were a wizard.

You should tell her it's within the dictionary definition. #lawyersarguments

I do enjoy the conversational HP references. Don't mind me; I'm just in a weird mood today.

Oh, that's fine. I was just trying to make you laugh. I'll have to try harder.

It's been about two years and sometimes I fear the worst, but I do hope that Ally is out there somewhere making the most of life and hopefully enjoying it.

So long as you don't end buying a mobile home and still call it "camping".
A family camping with a bunch of young kids in one tent makes sense. Once they become adults who ever snores the loudest will end up with a pillow stuffed down their throat. Wiser to break into sub tents.

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
No mobile home yet, though some people in our group will always ogle the ones we see in the campgrounds.
We do have an extra tent now and split off people into it sometimes, initially for the reason you mention (snoring), but also often when my youngest step-brother brings along friends. Plus we have some cousins who usually get the adjacent site. We didn't have too many people this time, though, as my brother and one step-brother both sat it out.

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
I'm flying back to California tomorrow early in the morning. I can't say I'm excited to go, as even though it's been over 3 weeks now I'd really rather stay here longer. It's much nicer than California, even with the cold and rain we've had the last two days. And I'm far happier here, which matters more than the weather ever will.
But I just received The Waste Lands in the mail, so I've got my airport reading sorted!

I hope you have a safe and smooth flight, Forest. Hopefully you can visit MN again in the not too distant future.

I agree with this statement, even though I've never been to California.
