Yeah, both of them are caricatures.  I sort of ignore them in this season, except as commentators on the real action.

yep you are right they seem like robot clone Scully and Mulders, in the 80s version, her diffidence and his laconic quirkiness really worked, but now her diffidence looks like weary indifference and his quirk looks like a pose. The truth is out there but its past its sell by date.

I see on channel 4 here in the UK, that there is a new series beginning. "Kiss Me First" its called, ok, What pricked my ears up was in the write up it says....
"This thoroughly modern drama flips between 2 different worlds- one is the miserable existence of Leila, a girl with no friends etc, the other is the fantastical computer game world of Azana, which Leila inhabits as her online alter ego Shadowfax....."
Shadowfax to me is a horse, not a computer game character. Sorry, but I feel a bit picky about these sort of things. ( like JK Rowling, Id like to pick her) I wondered how it goes legally about taking names & using them for your own ideas ?

Like the Forever shows. Watched Dinnerladies and the Carry on films and just finished Rising Damp.

The infamy line was voted the most famous line in British film history.

I loved Rising Damp, one of the best comedies there was. I thought Leonard Rossiter was fantastic. They all were. Not one of them ever got on my pip. I used to wish I spoke like Francis De La Tour, she was graceful & feminine. And such a sadness when Richard Beckinsale died, only 30, that's so young Crying or Very sad

{{I am curious what non-Brits and younger folks make of this- my all time favourite episode of The Young Ones- for those who dont know this was a mid 80's sitcom about four students sharing a flat- Neil the hippy, Vivian the punk, Rik the right on student activist (and utter twat) and Mike the cool guy. It was the leading light in the Uk of the alternative comedy scene, breaking as many rules as they could think of - from content to filming styles, a sort of rebellion against the previous eras 'safe' middle class two shot drawing room sitcoms like The Good Life, To the Manor Born, Terry and June ect
This one particular episode boasts in various roles no less than Stephen Fry, Emma Thompson, Robbie Coltraine, Ben Elton, Alexi Sayle, Hugh Laurie, Mel Smith, Gryff Rhys Jones, Tony Robinson and a turn from Motorhead.

Let me know what you make of it - oh and University Challenge which features in this is a genuine quiz show that's been running for decades and is still on now, though its no longer hosted by Bamber Gasgoine, Jeremy Paxman now holds the reigns- theme tunes the same though }}

{{{Threads- I saw this on broadcast in 1984 at the height of the Cold War when I was 13 and living right on top of the no1 target for a nuclear strike in the UK- traumitised the fuck out of me, not sure I ever recovered from it in fact. But certainly one of the most impactful bits of TV I saw as a child. }}

Well, McLeod's Daughters just went to crap, and it only took three seasons!

I've been vicariously watching the show ever since my mom started again after a 9 year break at the beginning of season 3. I catch bits and pieces, and sit down for a bit now and then. It has an element of nostalgia to it -- as I remember the characters from when we stopped watching nearly a decade ago -- but that's all over now. It's all contrived mediocrity from here on out!

Spoiler:

Anyway, preeeeetty lame. I did some quick searching, and apparently the show gets way worse throughout its next 5 seasons. It's all contrived mediocrity from here on out! Needless to say, I took the rest of the discs off the Netflix queue.

Edit: On a slightly more serious note, that's an incredibly strong bit of television Petty! I mean, shit, those brief close-ups of bottles melting, building materials melting... people melting... More effective than comparable shots in The Sum of All Fears, or similar films I've seen.

Tremors is not a B-movie. It had a budget of 11 million and was released by Universal.
A major effects film from the same year, Total Recall, cost five times as much, but 11 million is a hefty amount by 1990's movie budget standards.
