Since this has be norced into a who replacement thread I'll put this here, on another forum dedicated to Big Finish's Audio Dramas we were dicsussing the likelihood of Matt Smith/Eccleston signing up now they have the rights to their Doctors, someone posted this:

Several times this past weekend at ReGeneration Who 2 (A Doctor Who convention), Jason (I think this was referring to Jason Haigh-Ellery, Managing Director and co-producer of Big Finish)talked about Matt's (Matt Smith's)interest in doing Big Finish. Jason thoroughly believes - "I think he will come back." Matt's agent just says "Not at the moment." Jason said that Nick (Nicholas Briggs, executive producer and frequent writer/director/actor on the Who Audios, has also voiced the Daleks etc since 2005 for the Tv series) asked Matt a couple of times when working with him and received positive responses about him being happy to return to the role after some time had passed. With David Tennant they always knew he would come back.

Jason also says they periodically nudge Christopher Eccleston's agent without getting any positive results.

Good to know Smith is open to it, some of the audios are recorded two or three years in advance of release, they have the license though to 2020 so it seems likely we'll be hearing more of Matt's Doctor in a couple of years...let's hope they nudge Eccleston's Doctor a little harder, it took them ten years to persuade Tom Baker so you never know...

{{{{I think Smith will do it eventually- he wants a bit of separation for his career sake I imagine, and that's fair enough, but he doesn't seem to have any objections to doing BF at some point, unlike Eccy who just doesn't seem to want to return to the part at all and doesn't look like changing his mind any time soon.}}}

{{{{The new companion has been cast but not announced yet}}}

'"There will be a new companion, along any minute," Capaldi told Brazilian website Omelete via Radio Times, "which I'm very excited about, 'cause obviously I know who that is and we've been doing a bit of work together already and it's very exciting. Because it's a very different sort of take on it.”

Capaldi has indicated it's another female companion, and I think the actor who portrayed Rigsy was recently cast in Eastenders anyway...

no I wouldn't because she isn't the sexual stereotype that you are insinuating, quite the complete and utter opposite actually.

True. Although I actually quite like Trevor Noah. He's got his own kind of thing.

And I think John Oliver was better off going off doing his own thing as well, when it came down to it.
