Actually, dogs are more expressive. You're rarely left wondering what a dog is thinking. They work for your love because they need it.  Cats are happy to use you, but they don't need you. If anything they seem to be hiding their thoughts from you at times.  I think they leave an emotional impression because they so clearly establish an identity separate from our own.

Agreed. One of the best indicators of how your life is going is how easy it is to get out of bed. Another indicator is whether you need to...and when you don't need to I'd say that's usually a good thing!

Im laying in just a bit more these days only because its Winter, dark & dismal. Im up well before dawn in Summer Last night was wonderful, I was listening to a Nightingale till 4AM

Cats may recognize their names but it doesn't mean they care.

Have to say that Ive known this for ages. Cats are a law unto themselves & they will do ( or don't ) as the mood takes them. My mogs do know their names & actually do respond, especially when they hear me open cans of cat food Its a true saying, "cats rule us" … "Dogs have owners, cats have staff ( us ) "

I found this old photo of my GF's cat just now, I have a suspicion he may still be plotting to kill me

Kinda funny looking back on this now, I quickly came to the conclusion that was not a look of death threats, more a warning to stay away from his food  

He's become increasingly comfortable with me as time has warn on, though as with all cats only wants attention on his terms

You can't blame cats for dictating what they want and when they want it. It's incredible that dogs are as accommodating as they are. You'd worry about any human that shows that much devotion.

He ( or she ) is a lovely cat. I think cats have the correct balance of love & suspicion. Dogs can be too loving, to their detriment sometimes, tho, it wouldn't go amiss if humans showed a grain of the love a pet freely gives out.
