Well,I spent the best part of this evening watching a couple of dusty old videos that I had, buried in the bookshelf. One is "JJR Tolkien,Master of the Rings". It was quite interesting. Narrated by Robert Di Napoli, Tells you more of the inspired sort of things, not so much of the life of Tolkien. It had contributions from Tolkiens children,(all well grown into adulthood now!) How Tolkien inspired musicians & artists etc. Then I watched "A film portrait of JRR Tolkien". Now THAT was more in depth with Tolkiens life & narrated by Dame Judy Dench. Far more interesting interviews with Christopher tolkien,& others. 2hrs long that one,but worth it I think!. It was nice to see the man himself speaking, talking of things that played a large part in his life, his creative ideas, the meaning of things etc. Then there was Christopher speaking of things his father had done & said, working out meanings to things & what were really meant & what was guess work. The languages interested me. personal names as well as place names. How Tolkien devised names thru research, what they meant & why. And also, how Tolkien really wanted to have a Myth that THIS country could call its own. Even Queen Margareth (?)...(Im so sorry I know I spelt her name wrong!) of Denmark added her love for LOTRs & showed her art work of LOTRs.

So...is J. RR Tolkien still working on any projects? He seems to have gone a bit quiet.

One feature of Tolkien’s affection for his children proved to be embarrassing when they were older: he would always kiss them, even his boys when they were adults. He never shied away from showing his affection for his children.
How sweet I love you

Verses from "The Lord of the Rings"

I sit beside the fire and think
Of all that I have seen
Of meadow flowers and butterflies
In summers that have been

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
In autumns that there were
With morning mist and silver sun
And wind upon my hair

I sit beside the fire and think
Of how the world will be
When winter comes without a spring
That I shall ever see

For still there are so many things
That I have never seen
In every wood in every spring
There is a different green

I sit beside the fire and think
Of people long ago
And people that will see a world
That I shall never know

But all the while I sit and think
Of times there were before
I listen for returning feet
And voices at the door.
— J.R.R. Tolkien

BBC 4 religous program 'Beyond Belief' covered Tolkien today.

Brithobbits can catch it here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03bqchj

Focuses on Tolkien religous beliefs.

Yeah, they have three distinguished scholars to talk on the matter. It seemed fair, and informative (although its unlikely there is anything you won't have heard or read before but its still a good discussion, worth a listen when you have half an hour spare)
