Re: the all Dog thread! [2]
Ugh, some people should not have dogs.
My sister was currently complaining to my mom about how my niece's dog has taken to biting strangers. The dog, a beagle, ran after a delivery man and put a hole in his pants, and recently jumped up and bit a visiting friend who had admonished the dog to stay down with a pointed finger.
This should be surprising to absolutely nooone who knows how the dog has been raised.
1. Physical intimidation is often used in that house to get the dog to do things. Everyone yells at the dog, loudly, and my brother-in-law sort of lunges for her at times while yelling. His idea of "punishment" is to come down hard and fast and loud. If the dog isn't wincing on the floor then he hasn't done his job he thinks, apparently.
2. She has been trained to jump up and grab food held in a person's hand some distance in the air.
3. My nephews often play with her in a very rough manner. My one nephew in particular will hold her down on the carpet until she nips at his hands to get away. Or grab at her backside as she runs around: same nipping result. A favourite new game, which no-one in the family seems to object to, is for that same nephew to stick her favourite stuffed animal in his pants and then run around the house while she chases. She catches up soon enough, and then leaps up and sinks her teeth into the back of his jeans.
Wow geez sister of mine, I can't imagine why you're having biting problems with this dog?!? What a fucking mystery tour.

And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

Re: the all Dog thread! [2]
about #1.. the only thing you teach a dog with physical/dominant(old fashion) methods is to be afraid of you and other people.
Re: the all Dog thread! [2]
Good job she isn't my sister ! That's terror, not training, or doing anything for the fun of it or for the love of it. Ive never raised my voice to my pets & I usually find a way round problems by being quiet, gentle & distracting them from what I don't want to what I do want. Getting a pet to trust you is the most important thing !! I fecking hate kids that tease & yell & pull at pets as tho they are left overs from fecking Toy Story !

I didn't scroll that far...geez. I wouldn't say cows, pigs, chickens are treated so great, but at least the death is quick. Still makes me go back to contemplating being a vegetarian.
